“Enlightenment is the end of suffering.”
Beautiful..
I’ve been meditating for longer, always an hour although I still just get up sometimes.
Today I focused on my posture, trying to make my back feel better. Turns out I can do it if I’m not so rigidly effortful. Also, I can count to eight if I don’t focus so sharply on my breathing.
I started out thinking about what I did today, when I was done I just looked at the breath in the body.
I was feeling a lot of loneliness- some from reading old blogs about when I was leaving LA. I did some Tonglen for the loneliness.
There were points were I was quite altered… funny. Maybe its the spine thing.
Living an enlightened life is to live one of balance. Knowledge must become wisdom, strength must become gentleness, discipline must become instinct… The ultimate goal is to form a harmonious bridge between one’s perceptions and behaviors. The knowledge that all substance in the universe is the same and that you are not an insular entity, fundamentally no different from the rest of your species and other lifeforms, is also an important milestone in understanding. To recognize your own nature, and act according to it. It is the art of living—to become like an animated self-portrait.
Additionally, people should strive to attain a state of flow throughout as many areas as they can. By “flow” I mean that ecstatic state that musicians, for one example, can feel when they are thoroughly involved with their work. The chatter of your thoughts subsides, and you become an observer of yourself, no longer the deliberate puppet master tugging at the strings of your body. Centering your life around this experience can bring about true happiness.
I have realized that knowledge is one way to attain englightment however it must be balanced with something else as well. If you go too much one way it won’t happen.
I have realized that knowledge and meditation are the two things that I most strongly need to grow. First I grow spiritually and then I grow everywhere else. I don’t know why it works that way but it does for me personally.
I think I’m going to try taking a journey deep into my soul. Every so often I become inspired to write. I don’t know what I will write but I do know its in my soul to write. I’ll attempt once again.
I belive that write is a journey inside your soul, especially if your writing fiction. Can you imagine Stephen King? There’s only one book of his that I liked, “Lisey’s Story”. It showed me more than anything what his soul is like. Interesting eh?
I am.
We are all connected in some way. I feel it everywhere I go. All this reality is illusory. We live in a manifestation of our thoughts. We are in control and we can do anything we believe in.
Thank you for supporting me through this.
currently stepping back from buddhism: what is enlightenment? does it mean the same in the west? whose terms do you use? would be good to read kabat-zin, wie site.
open awareness practice seems to be replacing concentration practice. Maybe dependent on level of restlessness.
to become Serene. to be able to help others to become Serene. to have a ball doing it, to really have a blast while doing no harm. to meditate and slip into the outside realms that people report about who take drugs, but to do it naturally. and to learn from the adventure
This is a solid goal to transition to after I became a minimalist. The lighter I get, the closer I am to enlightenment. I’ve seen flashes of light all over the place lately and I am having newfound perspectives in meditation to the point where everything is truly starting to make sense. I am becoming one with the world and it is not just the destination that is rewarding, but the path I am currently on. The path is much more important than the destination. We spend much more time on the path than we do at enlightenment. Enjoy the journey folks and be grateful for all that is and all that will be.
We are all born enlightened. It is the culture that takes us away from it. We may have a faster moving stream as adults, but we can transcend all suffering by going downstream. Let us all become enlightened and realize we are all one with the Earth.
