Conspiracy theories usually make me laugh~ 3 months ago

However, there is 1 ad on TV that leaves me cold. The one about how 30 women a day (that equals 10,950 a year) in the US are diagnosed with cervical cancer. I have watched this ad for a long time thinking I am miss-hearing the number of cases. I’m not! It is 30 a day.

Cancer of any kind is horrible. I am not saying this isn’t important but in comparison according to the American Cancer Society, about 1.3 million women will be diagnosed with breast cancer annually… worldwide about 465,000 will die from the disease.

My concern is that the year I left Texas Govenor Rick Perry made it mandatory for all girls in Texas to have this vaccination, Gardisil, for cervical cancer. While not addressing other health issues like breast cancer at all.

This affects my granddaughters age 9 & 5…how will this affect my family in future generations? What do we really know about Gardisil? Why experiment on all of the young girls in Texas?

More importantly how does 1 man & his agenda (co-horts) have the power to do this to the entire population of his State without anyone being able to stop him?

I am not demeaning Hillary's ability 3 months ago

but it looks like we have 2 Secretaries of State for world diplomacy for the price of one.

Thank God for Bill’s diplomacy techniques and his rescuing the 2 journalists from the terror of being imprisoned.

I am a firm believer in teamwork! :)

At dinner tonight with a friend 4 months ago

someone came up behind me and gave me a hug and a kiss on the head. Seems I have made quite an impression here in the wilderness. It was our community’s State Senator who was newly elected in November.

Honestly, if someone would have told me I would have supported him before meeting him I would have laughed. He is a Republican…not my usual vote. But he is retired military and moderately conservative. He is a family man (my values) and concerned with the economics of Montana. He wants to make life better here for all families. My values again.

Tonight he actually sounded like me…about health care for all children and what is fiscally prudent. Should a billionaire’s child have state funds(taxpayers) pay for their health care the same as a child who lives in poverty? That seems to be what is happening here…probably elsewhere too. A very hard question to answer considering the health care debate.

We do agree on economic development…bringing jobs to the wilderness is first and foremost.

In order to run for office and get elected here in the wilderness you have to choose a side. In my opinion he just thought he was Republican. I think he’s more Independent. :)

We all deserve Health Care! Please sign this Petition! 5 months ago

Yesterday, President Obama said: “I strongly believe that Americans should have the choice of a public health insurance option operating alongside private plans. This will give them a better range of choices, make the health care market more competitive, and keep insurance companies honest.”

Subject: Support Obama on health care reform

Hi,

On Wednesday, President Obama reaffirmed his support for a public health insurance option—the key piece of health care reform that will provide coverage for all Americans and help bring costs down.

But as the health care fight heats up, right-wing lobbyists and conservatives in Congress are working hard to kill the public health insurance option.

I signed a petition today telling Congress I stand with Obama on health care reform. Can you join me at the link below?

Thanks!

Politically my thoughts have always 5 months ago

been humanitarian in nature. We are coming into the age of Aquarius and now the “silent majority” are the people who joined the system to change it from within 30 years ago.

We have made great headway. President Obama is evidence of that progress but there is still much to do to make this world a better place to live.

I’m ready to jump back in and do my part. :)

When I was younger 9 months ago

I was much more politically active. Poitics has always been a passion of mine. At one time I was the Voter Services Director for the local chapter of the League of Women Voters in Texas. I was the head of voter registration drives and community forums for a few years.

When I lost my husband, home and health (the big 3) I lost interest in politics for a few years. Now that I am well again I have a renewed interest in what goes on around us.

Time to start being active again.

Since I am not at an office 12 months ago

everyday I have time in the mornings to listen to some of the talk shows. This morning on the View they interviewed Richard Dryfuss about the Movie “W”.

I was totally surprised to learn they no longer teach Civics to our children. When did that happen???

No wonder we have voter apathy…they have no idea what it means.

I need to register to vote!!! 13 months ago

This way I can vote for John McCain! Other than that, I need to understand and see what’s happening in our political world around us and I need to not only work for a living (which I do and do it well), but I also need to start volunteering to help out politically. :)

75% Loan to Value relief? Who wouldn't take these odds? 13 months ago

Is Countrywide/Bank of America helping the homeowners or themselves with this program? I’m thinking it’s not for any sub-prime borrowers who borrowed 100% with no money down on interest only loans but they want us to think they are helping.

NEW YORK (New York Times) – Countrywide Financial, in an effort to resolve lawsuits against it, has launched the largest program ever to help struggling homeowners in Texas and ten other states.

The lender, recently acquired by Bank of America, will provide a total of $8.7 billion to borrowers, $8.4 billion of which will be through direct loan relief that will affect about 400,000 people. Countrywide will also waive $79 million in late fees and $56 million in prepayment penalties, and suspend foreclosures on delinquent borrowers with the riskiest loans.

A foreclosure relief fund will be created with $150 million from Countrywide to help borrowers who are four or more months behind on their payments or whose homes have already been foreclosed on. The company will also provide $70 million to help troubled borrowers relocate to rental housing.
Additionally, Countrywide will reduce principal balances in some cases and cut interest rates in others.

To qualify, the borrower’s first payment must have been due between Jan. 1, 2004, and Dec. 31, 2007. The loan balance must be at least 75 percent of the current value of the home, and the borrower must be able to afford the adjusted monthly payments.

After last night's debate 13 months ago

I’d be hard pressed to make a decision between Biden and Palin for President. Don’t know why but I actually like them both better than their running mates! :)
