Be frugal without being stingy and without losing the pleasure of the occasional splurge

Since my company went into a massive round of layoffs last December I’ve saved about 15000 euro for getting through any rough times which may pop up; it wasn’t a big effort, just cut back on the gadgetry, quit smoking which helped, and did my shopping in a more coordinated/planned fashion. Good stuff, and I feel more secure with this stashed away.
