Migraine: 1st visual disturbance roughly 7pm. Due to pregnancy can’t take ibuprofen, panadol will do.
The last 3 days…
Friday pre-migraine
Horrendous day at work coping with pain from falls and a report that now has other factors needed to determine results…STRESS
Thursday: boring day at work, sitting around waiting for opinions on the report, leave early, get some shopping done and my nails, go home to walk the dogs, have a BIG fall while running to help sweep the dog.
wed: work, walk dog, nothing
Sleep pattern…getting plenty of sleep although poor quality, going to bed about the same time, getting up about the same time, at work by 8:30.
Factors that could contribute to migraine:
work stress,
emotional stress of fall and possible effects on baby,
physical pain from fall
tired
pregnancy hormones

I’ve suffered from migraines for…probably the last 10 yrs, i don’t get them often but when i do i may as well jot that day down to non existant. I have, over the years begun to notice the immediate warning signs, the ones that signal a migraine within an hr. Aknowledging this and using a combination of panadol and ibuprofen i can usually minimise the pain. I usually don’t hang around to find out and black out my room, put on a sleep mask and try to sleep through it, or the worst of it as usually i wake the next day with a head that feel like my brain is still smooshing the sides if i move, in particular if i lower my head below my shoulders, say to pick somthing up.
This is what i know:
Before i get a migraine i usually have vision disturbances 1st, so either wavey lines through my vision or a blink spot, that is i can’t see what i’m looking at but it its in my peripheral i can.
From this i probably have 40 mins before the 1st headache set in.
Then about another 30 mins before the pounding.
I hate migraines they usually have me in tears, not through pain but a combination or everything
They are hormonal, that is while i was going through puberty they were worse.
I get them from my mum, cheers for the genes.
I’m lucky enough that they usually only last for the day, so if its morning i will be better the next day but equally if its later in the evening i will be better the next day.
As i get older the symptoms acompanying the headache get worse…it used to b just pain, but now i get a dreamy feeling and numbness of one side, usually my finger and tongue.
I have also been informed…(mainly by my mum who is a dr and has suffered migraines all her adult life) that migraines are usually triggered by somthing, and usually it is a step process, so every1 is capable of suffering one but people like me (and her) have less steps to getting one. Factors (not suprisingly) include stress both physical and emotional, hormones etc
BUT i feel i could predict events that trigger migraine if i kept a journal of them, so when i get one (or the next day cos computers r out of the question) writing notes of say the preceding 3 or 4 days. I don’t get them often so by the time the next one comes i’ve forgotten what happened at the last one.
I don’t necesarily think i can prevent them but if i’m aware of the causes then maybe i will be able to limit them a little…or atleast know what causes them.
This could take forever….but then maybe i’ll never get another one because i’m doing this…
