Straightforward goal: 26 down 74 to go 6 months ago

I’ve made my list on Amazon. I’ve pillaged the UNT library for some great James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Funkadelic, Donald Byrd, and Roy Ayers. Now, I just have to buy five to eight albums per month for the next year. (I have three in the mail!)

An interesting tributary 8 months ago

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are to funk what the Rolling Stones were to blues and R&B: a white band that took a largely black musical genre and added elements of popular white music. The result with both groups was a highly successful, if somewhat derivative, sound. The genre that the Chili Peppers helped create might be called funk-metal and includes bands like Fishbone and Primus. I already have most of Chili Peppers’ stuff (including Freaky Styley, The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, and Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik,), but I need to buy Mother’s Milk complete my collection. This is way down on the list.
