How I did it: I had been watching Bob Ross on tv for years, and have always wanted to learn how to oil paint - but specifically in his style, as it is designed for beginners. Oil painting itself seemed so daunting so I wanted a method that could be easily learned. I was in Hobby Lobby with my mom and saw that classes were being offered, so I signed up on the website and waited for the class. I bought all the required supplies and got my dad to join and come with me. We went, we painted, we did it! Read how I did it… 18 months ago

Went to Michael’s yesterday and bought another Bob Ross paint kit (this one for my dad), some palette paper, 2 tubes of phthalo green (they were not included in the kits but a needed paint color in our class), and some painter’s glove lotion to prevent stains on skin (on clearance!). I can’t wait for this Saturday! 19 months ago

Just registered me and my dad for some oil painting classes at Hobby Lobby. I’m excited because I think it will be really fun, I will learn something new, and hopefully my dad will have a good time too. The class we regestered for is for painting a wave in the ocean, in the “wet-on-wet” style of Bob Ross. The class is on the 24th, so we’ll see how it goes! 19 months ago

Have been painting for a while but the pride of being ‘self-taught’ needs to give way to better confidence and less stuck paintings that have some life to them. Maybe following a book (more than five pages in) or get to a workshop (or ten). 23 months ago

i’ve worked with gouache, acrylic, water color and would really like to try oil. The question is, will I have the patience? 6 years ago

I have always admired people that can just pick up a brush / canvas and turn it in to a wonderful piece of art. I want to learn how to paint. 6 years ago
