I accomplished this in several ways.
1. Fire steel and striker with dryer lint
– ” with tree bark
– with dry grass
– homemade charcoal
2. With a magnifying glass
3. with a fire piston that i made and broke after two tries.
4. 9 volt battery and steel wool.
I still have to try hand drill and bow drill methods. Oh yeah, I need to do the soda can and chocolate method, too.

Magnifying glasses are lazy firemaker’s friends. It’s startlingly easy especially if you have dark material (paper, cardboard) to burn.

Flint and steel. I really like being the fire goddess on camping trips. It sure helps to bring some dry sawdust though!

I took a class, the Art of Firemaking. It was a blast. We made our own everything having only a knife for help. We even learned how to make rope.

My mate had some kind of flint stick thing that made lots of sparks. Takes a bit of practice to get it right but I did.
