Absolutely do this! Seeing leatherbacks and ridleys and greens on the beaches of Guanacaste was definitely among the highlights of my time in Costa Rica. It is so amazing to watch these enormous sea turtles lumber up the beach, rhythmically dig their hole, lay a clutch, cover it, then return to the ocean. It makes you laugh and cry and fills you with compassion. It’s a lifetime experience to be sure! Go for it, but whatever you do, research carefully to make sure that you’re not staying somewhere that contributes to the problems that face sea turtles, including light pollution.
