So, I decided to take the job from comScore. I was able to negotiate my salary up $3,000, but they still didn’t give me more for moving (which is pretty annoying, but obviously not a deal breaker). Anyway, this goal is complete! :D
How to line up a job for when I graduate
How I did it: I had already had an internship with my company for a few months, yet they needed a bit more evaluation before offering me a full-time position, and said I had to work on my people skills. I really had to shift gears around and start to think more about the method in which I'm doing my work as part of a team in order to make everyone happy and also get the job done. To my pleasant surprise, after better cooperation, work got done faster.
Lessons & tips: Listen and learn as much as possible from superiors and people with more experience. Often times I would think something was the right way to do something and it really wasn't. Also, before pitching the use of some new idea, it's a good idea to make sure that idea has been tested.

I got a job offer from comScore, and I’m going to try to negotiate a little with them—overall it seems like a really cool place to work, so I’m pretty happy. I also want to get back in contact with Google and see if the position I interviewed before is open yet before I make my final decision.
I got an interview with ComScore for Thursday while I’m visiting my boyfriend here in Seattle! Hopefully it’ll go well.
I’ve interviewed with a handful of people on the phone and some in person, but the process is going pretty slow, and it’s starting to get kind of frustrating. A lot of companies say that my skills are perfect but that they won’t be hiring at all until some unspecified time in 2008, so I’m in a weird “job limbo” for a lot of these companies. Grrr…
I know I want to get into politics (campaign work or a state or local govt job) or non-profit community work in CA. This semester I’m going to start looking for jobs that appeal to me and then start applying to tons of places so I can have something lined up for when I get back from Peru.
