How I did it: See my entries on this...! I made character descriptions, place descriptions, plot outlines, chapter summaries. I found out information about things I needed to know before I write. And I prepared myself mentally for the challenge!
Done:
- Location and main character descriptions written
- Chapter division finalized and chapters planned as much as I’m going to before Nano starts
- Test chapter-ish things written: 4/5
- Background books read: 6/10
- generic background documents written: 3
To do:
- Write at least one more test chapter
=> before end of August
- Read the rest of the books
=> before end of September

- Plot pretty much planned chapter by chapter

This seems scarily easy now. I thought I have a hundred thousand things to do, but turns out I’m ahead of schedule. Maybe it’s a good idea to let this thing rest a while, write something else, and then return to it afresh later.

This is so much fun! I’m making charts and lists, reading background information, thinking about it a lot, and basically trying to make, in advance, next November as easy as possible. Here’s hoping I don’t get bored.
