How to organize my photos
It made me

 "I love having my photos organized - much easier to use."
How I did it: I'm a scrapbooker so to have my photos organized was important to me. Plus lots were in old, damaging magnetic albums so those needed disassembling. I bought a few photo boxes (three in total). One box is photos from topics I've already scrapbooked. These are the extras. Now I use them in funny cards, or I can make other gifts out of the extras, or I'll just know at some point that it will be ok to throw them if that's what I feel like. The other boxes are events/topics I have not scrapped, but might. That way I can be more cautious about what I use up in there, though I know deep down I probably won't go back to much of it. So I have two kinds of boxes: "Negatives/already scrapped" and "Maybe to scrap." Lessons & tips: Undo your old, acidic albums. They will only damage your photos. The sooner, the better.

I have so many photos, old school and digital. I don’t know where to begin. Oh, yes I do. I need a good computer back up so I don’t lose what I have on my computer.

I went through a bunch of folders on my computer and ordered prints for a bunch, so now I can just burn them on cds and feel ok deleting these from my computer. still have much more to go through!

....all my digital photos are in one place. My archived photos are in boxes. I have a current box in which I’m adding the digital photos that I’ve printed out that don’t end up in a scrapbook or given away. AND, most importantly, I have an auto-backup up and running so that if my computer crashes, I won’t lose all my photos….no more manual backups!! Sounds done to me!
Now, ask me about my scrapbooks…..not so good. I’m several YEARS behind on each of my kids books :( Oh well, always gotta have a project, right??

I didn’t used to take photos but I’ve got loads on facebook that other people have taken. I’ve also just started taking photos now that I have a camera again so ideally I’d like to have them all stored on an external hard drive (not sure how to do this yet :/) organised by date. I’d also like to have my favourites of these photos printed off and put in to one of the many photo albums that need filling or put in to frames around the new flat as I didn’t have ANY last year.
I would also really love some old family photos, but that’s pushing it I think. We have thousands of photos from over the years & a lot of them are somewhere on my dad’s computer somewhere. Maybe if it doesn’t take too long to organise my own I could move on to that. Arranging all or a few our old family pictures in to photo albums could make a nice cheap present too :D

I’m in the process of doing this. I have the photo box out in my room with pictures laying around. I’m gonna work more on it later! I’m decorating my apt with photos I like first, then putting some in photo albums, and leaving the rest in the box. The digital ones need to be organized as well. I’m printing some out occasionally for the wall!
