How I did it: I went to the animal shelter. it wasn't that complicated. We were just intending to look, but when this dog, which was a small breed, was brought in while were were there, we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to give it a shot.

    I adopted Ike (the handsome guy pictured in my avatar) at the Humane Society in southern Maryland. He’s been my faithful companion for 8 years. But we recently found out he has hypercalcemia (excess calcium in the bloodstream). From what I’ve read, hypercalcemia is almost always symptomatic of a serious problem – could be kidney disease, could be cancer. I should know more by mid-week.
