no title, rewrited everyday, far from good enough. but worth the effort understand the creative process and to fight with characters that want to be stars. fun :|

Alright, this goal has fallen to the bottom of my list… I wouldn’t really say it’s lack of time, I’ve been reading a lot of books and doing low priority stuff (like laundry), I really do have the time.
I think my major roadblock with this goal is that the topic of my book was suppossed to be funny and entretaining, and things just didn’t fit… It’s like one of those Eminem songs with 1 F word too many: I feel I’m abusing humor and not really saying anything.
I know it wasn’t suppossed to be perfect, but I wish I had a clearer idea of where the story is going. Perhaps writting is more about the journey and less about having all the answers from the get go, but the uncertainty is killing me.
It’s not much word-count-wise but I have made awesome progress plot-wise. I’m getting rid of the younger characters, my main character is confronting his evil twin, and things are moving forward. Having time to think things through a little really helped a lot :)
Arrite, this whole goal came to major hault when I found out about the farmer austronaut movie which as it turns out has pretty much the same plot as the book I am in the process of writting (except my story is better, of course).
This was a huge set back, and I have yet to resolve the issue of making my story totally different from their movie but still retain the freedom I want to make my characters be whatever I want for them to be. :/
Anyway, I’m passed the initial heart burn and I’ll get back on track starting this weekend at the latest. I know my story in the end will be much more amusing (just cause they made it first, it don’t mean they’re better) however, as of today, my word count is still under 15K. :(
Went running last night and got back home at 9:30 (which is kinda past my bedtime), so I ended up getting lazy and didn’t do any writting. Hope to catch up today, word count is still at 8500. :/
Well, the laptop arrived a day early, and given that all the other pieces of the puzzle are already in place, I think I’m going to get started tonight.
Minor software glitch: the laptop didn’t come w/MS word. Solution: get the husband to find me a free word processor that will have spell check and word count capabilities.
Major asset: the laptop has its own wireless card, so I won’t have to spend time installing Bellsouth’s wireless adaptor.
Let the writing begin! Yaaaay! :)
I have done my homework (Thank you Chris Batty!) and I’m ready to go. Here’s what I have so far:
a. read the Nanowrimo bible.
b. came up with a fabulous plot like no other ever before.
c. did all the research I needed to do.
d. purchased a laptop (which should arrive this Friday).
e. sufficiently bragged about this whole thing so that I will suffer great remorse if I don’t reach a minimum of 50K words.
f. stocked the freezer with enough frozen meals for the husband to survive without me cooking for at least 10 days.
g. have picked the shortest month of the year for extra challenge and additional after-the-fact bragging rights.
Y’all are welcomed to ask for my word count as often as you want, specially around week 2, which is supposed to be the toughest one. :)
