change everything is getting her shizz together

I forgot to mention 13 months ago

at one point, I wasn’t paying attention, and when I looked up, my kitty was standing on the window sill that was covered in mold-resistant primer. YIKES! Of course he ran off and put little white primer prints on the carpet, and then I had to tackle him down and wash his feet off (it was traumatizing for both of us).

So I should add, keep the door closed if you have pets.

finished...sort of 13 months ago

The color for the bedroom was a bit more…pastel, shall we say…than we thought it was going to be. We might paint over it at some point. The closet doors still need painting, as well as hte landing ceiling, but the main job has been done, as the bedroom was the last room remaining, and since we sacrified an entire saturday to do this, I’m rewarding myself by marking this as done.

after an obscenely long delay... 14 months ago

My husband has gotten the motivation to finish it this weekend so we can get the paint out of garage before it freezes.

I’m not thrilled about losing my weekend in this way, but it will be a good thing.

tiling or painting? 16 months ago

So I’ve been working on landscaping and gardening all summer pretty much – but I finally pulled myself away for the time being and am still trying to figure out what my next goal is. Tiling or finish painting? I have less than a month until I start school and things get too crazy for projects…so I need to decide which it’ll be by the end of the week and get going on it. My neighbor has graciously offered his wet saw and whatever else I need for tiling (plus his teaching services) but it’ll still be more expensive than painting and take longer to do…..

Yay! 16 months ago

I’m done, finally done with painting all of the rooms inside my house that I wanted to be painted. The outside is not done yet but hey, that’s not MY job.

johnnyking is nearly done painting my house!

finish the job 16 months ago

Last year I painted the front and side of my house that you can see from the street. This year I decided to finish the job. I have painted the back and the side as far as you can reach with 6’ ladder. Now it is time to break out the big guns and get the job done. The problem is-—I also have to complete work inside by October--and so—the pressure is on!

Time Flies when your agonizing over color! 19 months ago

Ok, so I’ve actually made some progress on this one. Kitchen’s yellow and the conjoined livingroom and dining room are shades of brown/beige….Got my bedroom and bathroom a nice chestnut and guest bath a nice beachy blue/green. I liked the blue so much, I painted my laundry room the same.
Here’s the funny part – the first room I painted was the kitchen and I’ve tried sooo hard to like the yellow, but I finally admitted to myself that I hate it (much to the dismay of my daughter who thinks it’s the greatest thing ever). Anyway….the blue looks so good with the beige/brown that I decided to re-do the kitchen in a bluish gray. I think I’ll be happy with that :)
Then will only have the kids rooms (2), hallway up to the FROG, the FROG and the computer room left to paint. Almost there!

heck yeah! Goodbye drywall spots! 20 months ago

It was so frustrating to have finished our kitchen and then have them come in and redry wall, putting huge white patches all over the walls. I was going to work outside today, but we got a freak snowstorm so I’m forced to do inside projects. It looks really great and took no time at all. The key was just staying in my pajamas so I felt motivated to quick do it before I took a shower.

We just have one bathroom and the bedroom left…we have to wait for spring though so we can get the walls dried out from this long winter and have some windows open for ventilation. Overall, we should be able to move the paint cans out of the kitchen before the summer is over.
