learn how to skateboard

I can’t do any tricks, but that’s why I bought a longboard! At first I was a bit off a wuss and I fell off when I got scared and jumped because I was going too fast. But now I am pretty in control .. a lot of the roads around here are no good for it though, so I like empty parking lots best. It’s definitely worth doing though, and obviously improves your balance. Whenever I have it with me people either smile or look very surprised. And you really can’t beat how little boys stare at you like you’re the coolest person ever (if you’re a girl, especially). It’s really just about getting one and practicing! At first a girl friend of mine tried to show me how to do it (she was a lot better than I was), and then from there I felt comfortable enough to go on my own. Definitely worth doing!

My co-worker Adam gave me my firs lesson today after his shift ended. He couldn’t stay too long but for a few minutes he coached me on the basis of skating. To start I had the wrong shoes, apparently if there is any kind of heel on the shoe that will affect your balance(I was wearing dress shoes).
It went well, I didn’t fall on the ground!!!
I was happy. Next week is my second lesson.

I don’t want to be a girl version of tony hawk, or even known as a “skater girl” at school. I just want to be able to ride without hurting myself and have fun. I guess first I need to get a board.

i want to skate and eventchually be pro

I started practicing on a very loose and old skateboard i managed to find in the mess that I call a garage. I took it to college and so did my friend Melissa, together we will learn. I’m excited, it’s a cool way to become closer and it’ll be fun.

I asked my guy friend what he thought about skateboarding and he said he thinks of it as a “guy thing.” I wonder why is that?

I came to france as an exchange student. Didn’t understand shit what people said. Started haning out at a deserted skatepark. Now I have a french skater boyfriend and can skate. =)

most underrated sport

It’ll be pretty baddass to skateboard to class at my uber-preppy university.

haha this i would love to do. especially since i seem to always develope crushes on skaterboy (i.e. boyfriend). maybe he can teach me. its really funny because i have a ton of guy friends and almost all of them skateboard, and they always have to hold me up or i fall on my ass. but i want to be able to be better then all of them!!
