angborchers difficult I can do right away, impossible will take some time
I took a class in de-cluttering, and I got a lot accomplished. I cleaned out under my bed, my dresser, under the sink in the kitchen, under the sink in the batroom.
I am particularly happy with the way those 2 sinks turned out. I stopped buying extra soap at the store everytime I went. Now I use what I have before I buy more. I don’t need 12 cleaners for my bathroom. I have only 2 now. I needed to let go and quit with the cleanser-overkill.
But I still have a lot of work ahead of me. What do I do with my craft supplies? I need to find a way to conveniently pull out scrapbooking when I want that. Sewing supplies when I want that. Paint supplies. Over time, I’m tackling one closet, one drawer, one mess at a time. I need follow through!

My bedroom closets and two storage closets are a disaster!

I will never be organized, nor do I desire to be, but it is getting hard to find stuff in the closets.

This weekend I completely emptied my 2 main closets: the standard-sized one that holds the bulk of my clothes and my walk in storage closet.
Mind you, I only have a 434 square-foot apartment, with 9 foot ceilings in DC. And into the center of my living space I moved stacks of boxes, a dresser, 5 large-plastic-stacking-storage drawers, three 30-gallon tubs, wire grid shelving/yaffa cubes, clothes both on and off hangers, sweaters, baskets, hats, shoes in their original boxes, shoes with no boxes, an ice chest full of camping gear, X-mas decor, my daughter’s boxes of toys/crafts.
In the walk-in, I pushed the 30-gallon tubs back into the back left corner, and set up the storage drawers next to them. In the spring I had purchased a case of those Container Store plastic shoe boxes, and a few of the boot boxes. I finally opened them up and got rid of the cardboard boxes. (Which I understand attract roaches—ick!)
I set up the Yaffa Cubes against the adjacent wall and slid my newly stored shoes into the left side of the left side of the 7 cubby construction. Placing my boots upright at the bottom. Then I pulled 2 largish baskets and filled them neatly with hand bags and belts in one and ball caps and winter beanies in the other, and placed them at the right of the shoes.

I can look in any closet in my condo and KNOW what is there. What a lovely liberating feeling!

Today went cleaning CRAZY! Spent about $75 on plastic bins and went through my entire craft closet. I’m 90% done and WOW it feels great!
Tossed a ton of stuff and even started on cleaning out my office. :0)
