Ter’s going to be fine… he still has the mass in his lung but it is scar tissue from a bronchial/pneumonic infection and will have be checked every year. He also has severe sleep apnea which we’ll have to take care of. He will be out on disability for the rest of the month because of his cough. All in all, he’s doing very good.
My sweetheart took me to one of our favorite places last Saturday for lunch, before we knew what we know now! I’m glad he is smiling in this pic… even though he was full of anxiety. We are so grateful for science and love.

So! Just the right thing to get me out of my thoughts and into the world—a little book from an across-country friend came in the mail. The first night, I took it up to bed to read before I slept. Then yesterday a light breeze blew in late afternoon. I took a glass of ice water, set up my lawn chair and small table under the shade tree and turned the sprinkler on low for the thirsty marigolds… there I sat reading the second story.

Such a very important and thoughtful gesture came from my friend so far away. I felt her reading these pages at another place in another time but it became all the same.

I’ve noticed that no matter how down I feel, if I step out into my tiny backyard for a few moments, a change comes over me. I see some weeds, which I pull up, notice a new splash of color over there by the fence, watch the hummingbirds come and go, fill the bird feeders, sweep some fallen wisteria leaves off the cool bricks of our patio. Small things like this leave me feeling better.

The kids came over today and showed me all, ALL (!) 800 plus pictures of their London/Paris honeymoon. It took about an hour and a half. Out of all, ALL (!) of the really great shots they took, this one is my favorite.

Thank you England, for the friendly hospitality you extended to my two “kids.”
Thank you France, for your delightful and charmingly beautiful City of Love.

at the wedding and it was great to see my old work friend… gosh we used to laugh so hard at work we’d end up with tears streaming down our faces (usually making fun of our boss).
