I’ve been keeping track of my weight on PhysicsDiet.com, which works out averages and graphs and things, and decided I’d call this done not when I weighed in 5lb lighter than when I started – which could probably be accomplished in a couple days of fasting – but when my average weight stayed 5lbs or more lower than my starting weight. It’s now done so for a full month, ruling out any cycle-related fluctuations, so I’m marking this done.
How to lose 30lb part 1: lose 5lb
How I did it: Accepting that for now my injury does not allow me to be as active as I used to be. Since I don't have as much control over my activity level, I need to adjust my eating accordingly. Ummmm...Weight Watchers, making a commitment to physical therapy, and doing what exercise I can do at least a few times a week have all been helpful.
Lessons & tips: Don't let yourself get hungry. If you feel you are starting to get close to "empty," eat something small and healthy to carry you through to the next meal so you aren't starving when you sit down to eat. Plan ahead - if you know you are getting together with people who will want to have dinner or drinks later, eat less earlier in the day. Carry exercise clothes around with you and try out new activities. Try to make exercise feel like play, it's easier for me that way at least.

Forgot to add this entry: I have lost, as of today, 6.2 lbs! Yay me! The trick will be to keep this off on my next food orgy vacation which is coming up. Planning on trying to get some exercise in to help offset the inevitable extra eating…! Wish me luck in keeping this weight off so I keep moving in the right direction.
Marking this as done and setting the next goal!

Wonder why it was removed from the challenge box and put with “past challenges?”

since I ate SO MUCH on my trip last week, I was sure I had put on the few pounds that I recently lost. But I guess the constant walking, walking, walking cancelled the eating, eating, eating, and I actually lost almost 1/2 a pound!
To quote caiti, “Awesomesauce!”
I have .4 lbs left to go before I hit the 5 lb. mark…I have another trip coming up, so I have to try hard not to backslide!
Today I weighed in under the zero point – the lowest since I started this. Nice note on which to start my holiday, to encourage me not to undo it all with holiday food :-p I’m not gonna worry too much about what I eat while I’m away, though. I intend to enjoy it, and it’ll be a fairly active week anyway.

and lost 4.2 lbs this week. I am cautiously celebratory – I think part of that was PMS weight, and also I am going to have a couple of short vacations this summer and I’m not sure how well I will be able to stick with everything! But I’ll try.
So anyway – as for today it’s 4.2 down! :-) Better than a sharp stick in the eye! Only 25.8 to go, LOL!
PS: Gotta get some exercise! Last time I did any real exercise was 4 days ago!

Feel good on the food front. Last night I “cheated-ish”and had 2 slices of pizza and a glass of white wine at night with My Man, but it’s not really cheating because I counted it off of my “cheater points” for the week. (W.W. allots points to different foods, you get a certain amount each day, plus what I call “cheater points” you can spread out during the week.) Today I feel like I can keep this going.
It’s hard to write about this. Part of me hates even thinking about my weight, because worrying about one’s weight seems tied in to unhealthy ideas about body image and I don’t want that. Need to remember that it’s just a way of measuring my progress with general healthy eating and being more active. C’mon, self, stop waffling and get on with it.
My weight seems to fluctuate within a range of a few pounds with no apparent cause. I weigh myself once or twice a week, and can be a pound or two heavier after what I thought were a few good days than after a few terrible ones. Maybe my body is slower than I think to respond to what I’m eating and how active I’m being.
‘Bout ten days ago, though I forgot to post about it at the time, I hit the “zero point” where losing one more pound would have had me in the next weight bracket down. Alas, it crept up again instead, partly cos of the time of the month; however, I’m currently three pounds under what I was at the same point last month, so I’m calling that progress.
