I’ve been volunteering for the Red Cross for a few months now and I plan to reach 100 hours in August 2009 :) I love to volunteer so I will definitely not stop after I’ve reached 100.
How to volunteer for 100 hours before the end of 2009
"Being a volunteer is super rewarding. This experience has definitely taught me not to take simple things in life for granted and I also got a new appreciation for how wonderful life really is."
How I did it:
"To do more for the world than the world does for you - that is success" - Henry Ford
I’ve been volunteering for the Red Cross for 9 months now. I´ve been participating in projects such as going on adventure trips with handicapped persons and I've also been answering at the red cross helpline, which is a toll-free number open 24 hours a day for those who need assistance due to grief, anxiety, fear, depression and/or suicidal thoughts.
I love to volunteer so I will definitely not stop now even though I’ve reached 100 hours.
Lessons & tips:
- Being a volunteer is not always easy - however it's super rewarding to be able to help people in need.
- Before you start taking shifts at the helpline call center, a bunch of very useful courses and workshop are offered as a preparation.
- There are a lot of different ways to become a volunteer so everyone should be able to find some way to make a difference.
