Bought a new journal for this purpose 3 months ago

I specificall y had in mind one journal I had seen at my fave bookstore and went back to it just in time to get the last one and begin my endeavor. I have a very specific purpose for this journal as well. The journal is to be honest, however, positive. A reflective tool not to be filled with whiny drivel. The journal must be updated frequently to create flow since time moves soo fast on the daily.

I have begun another life-long endeavor... 3 months ago

which will enrich me spiritually. I decided that after years of just writing when I had a whim that I would finally start a journal to help get things out of my head. Well, it took about a year and I can confidently say that I have begun my very first journal. The journal is consistently updated because it is important to me as is what it contains. As I go back and read my entries it’s like going back in time already. I have experienced this before in spurts when encountering an old love letter or anger letter(you know the ones) I now feel as if something is complete and some of the dots are connected for me. Life happens quickly and writing it down does sort of slow it down and capture a moment like a picture for me. I have always had a talent for writing and I hope that someday the journal will come in to use for some greater piece.

March 13, 2009 - New Blogger Site 7 months ago

I think I created my very first blog (online) around 2001 and I’ve had too many to count since. My blogging began on a site called OpenDiary which was popular among a few of my online friends in those days. I then moved between Xanga and LiveJournal a few times. Usually I settled on LiveJournal, which is where I’ve stayed with one name or another over the past several years. The only problem is that I’ve had an issue with “starting over.” Call this an OCD habit or whatever you like but I often grew tired of one screen name, wanted to avoid someone who kept track of my current blog, etc. Whatever the reason, I almost always had a blog for the WRONG reason. Now that I’m older I’m saddened that I didn’t keep up with those memories – however ridiculous they may have seemed to me back then. It’s always fun to look back at how you used to write, what you used to write about, and say to yourself, “What the hell was I thinking?” – and even then, it’s almost always fun.

I recently kept a pretty up-to-date online journal on LiveJournal but have since deleted it. LJ was always my “fall back site” because I’ve used it for nearly seven years. While researching online blogging sites I decided to give Blogger a try about a month ago. I created my site but never paid much attention to it until I decided to get rid of LJ all together. I feel I’ve outgrown it in a way. There are a lot of good memories there but a lot of bad ones, too. And it’s mostly about graphics and fan sites these days. A few days ago I wrote on Blogger for the first time and enjoyed the experience. It took only a few minutes to create and post a header (not a great one, but my first one as a space taker until I have the time). EVERYthing about it was simple, in fact. And I think I’ve grown to enjoy and appreciate simplicity.
