The Brat Formerly Known As Padatha is here now.
It starts out with me floating on my back on a serene lake. The sky above is peaceful blue, with a few white fluffy clouds drifting slowly by. The lake is surrounded by trees. I can hear birds singing, water lapping. I feel weightless and safe and free and at peace.
I begin drifting with a current, and I am taken into a river that exits the lake. It is at this point that I realize I am a leaf! I float on the water as it gains momentum, as it gallops over rocks and spins and twirls and rushes along! Very gradually, it quiets down and slows down, becoming a smaller and smaller river, then a stream, then a very little creek.
Finally, it enters a town, where it continues to shrink, until it is a little stream of water running along the edge of a street, in the gutter. It becomes so shallow that I (now part leaf, part human!) have to get up and run along side it it in the street to keep up with it! I am surprised at how fast it is moving still, despite its tiny size. I am worried now, because keeping up is difficult, and because my river may soon disappear completely.
But then, I am filled with a KNOWING that up ahead at some point where I can’t see, the trickle I am chasing will pick up again, and grow, and that it will return to the lake! There is no doubt. This is what will happen. So I continue alongside it, and as it grows larger, I leap back in to float along once more, back to the lake, to the peace and serenity and safety, to float effortlessly and without concern on its lovely supporting waters.
When I told this dream to a friend, she told me I am very lucky, because no matter what comes my way in life, I have that dream to hold onto.
