Learn Afrikaans

I REALLY WANT TO LEARN ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Have been fascinated by the Afrikaners since I first read about South Africa in middle school. Anybody know any good language learning programs? Preferably something similar to Rosetta Stone?

I want to travel HEAPS later in life and I don’t reckon that you really experience a place unless u can actually speak to the people…
Knowing a couple of Afrikaans speaking people also helped me make the decision… The catch is that I know next to no Afrikaans… total beginner :P

So I was wondering if anyone knew where to start… I’m pretty much much limited to hallo, and tot siens… :$

Also want to learn Italian, Latin, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, ... , ... , ... , ... ,

And I still speak it every single day!!! ‘K, it’s my Mother Tongue, so I guess that doesn’t really count, huh? But I still learn new words and phrases every day… Would be happy to help if you need a chatting mate!

Yeah, I do it at school and know quite a bit, but its my worst subject. I need to get my marks up.

I have an Afrikaans boyfriend, and I may soon move into an Afrikaans residental area. I don’t only want to learn Afrikaans because of the above, but because its something I would like to do. I would like to speak to my boyfriend, his family and others without them having to switch to english.

since it is my language! The difficult part is finding people to talk to here in the States.

wasn’t thinking much when I learned it in school, but now I am married to an Afrikaans person so it helps. Also helps with German. Considering how easy the language is, I’d recommend learning it.
Should improve a little tho’... Afrikaans vocab is not what it used to be..
