shfruzyFinally tried it!

I finally got the opportunity to try ice skating when I went on a three day class trip to downtown Toronto. One night we went skating in the well-known Nathan Phillips square. It was a gorgeous [albeit COLD] night, but for me, a first time skater, it was awful! :/

I hated the skates I got at the rental place [apparently I got figure skates which have a little pick in the front of the blade], and I fell three times in probably 5-10 minutes! I was with friends and really didn’t want to inconvenience them because I’m sure they wanted to have fun skating around so I just gave up.

I haven’t given up entirely though!! I WILL try ice skating again [and again and again] until I get better at it. I just need the opportunity to go again [hopefully this time I’ll go somewhere with sideboards to hang on to]. Gotta try this again before I go back to Trinidad [no ice skating in the Caribbean!] 15 months ago

KristinaIce skating.

I had decided that I must go ice skating this winter, since I have never done so and really wanted to try it. So, I invited a few friends and we went to the ice rink in Central Park. I was terrified at first, grabbing onto my friend’s arm for dear life. She didn’t let me hold on to the rails and forced me on my own after a few minutes of skating, which I’m glad for because it pushed me to actually learn to do it. Surprisingly, I did not fall once and it was pretty smooth sailing after I got the hang of it! Definitely a fun experience. I’ll definitely try to do it again next winter :) 15 months ago
