And learning to pastel at the same time! Cool, huh?

I’m starting out with “pastel pencils”, which are basically chalk pastels but pencil shaped so you can get more detail, and using them on coloured card.

It’s not as hard as I thought! I’ll try to post a picture at some point.

Unfortunately, the course ends this week, so I’ll either have to sign up for another one or invest in some pastels for myself. Art is expensive!

I painted this for you, I noticed you wanted to see the Northern Lights… I thought you might like this.

can’t paint.

grrrrr.

Very frustrating. Maybe there are ‘scales’ I could do or something to keep the ‘headspace’ it requires for me to paint?

very, very frustrating.

Its getting less difficult to peer into light, see colours & contours. What’s getting harder is figuring out which colours are applied by layers, or smearing.

I’m thinking I should try to limit my palette, I’ve had a dry spell since this last one from a week or so ago. I think I’m getting bewildered by the choices available.

This time, last year, I was in the Hoh Forest of Oregon.
This time, last year, I had no idea I could sketch!

I snapped a few photos while I was in such a magical realm.
Last week, I decided to sketch an amalgamation of various Rainforest elements. I originally thought this was a dud, but the Hobbit noticed otherwise the next morning.

Now, it turns out that this image looks much better from a distance. Give it a whirl!!

Wow, who knew? 4 years ago

Pastels have literally changed my Life.

It turns out that all the character & professional achievements I’ve ever respected & stived to achieve aren’t my natural talent.

I can paint. Seriously!

I can't believe I can draw! 4 years ago

... certainly enough to please me so that I wish to keep doing it. Whew knew I can??

Why did it take 40 years to discover it?
