improve my guitar playing

hey i’m Harmony, 18. i love amazing rock/emo/metal/screamo music, and i have always dreamt of being in a band. i have been singing and drawing since i was a lil girl and i taught myself while my parentals worried about my sisters beautiful voice. i must admit my sister has an amazing voice but its more of a mariah carey voice…not my style. my best friend and i have amazing harmony together, we have actuall sang duets that have made people cry. i love to sing, but like i said i have always wanted to pick up a guitar and sound like Yngwie Malmsteen or the A7X gang. i want to make music that will show people the side of reality that we should be viewing. i have written many songs, and if you were to read the songs i wrote, you would be in awe. i’m not bragging, or attempting to, i just have been through a lot, and so have many others. another reason why i want to be really good at guitar, or be in a band-i’m going off subject-but my mother and everyone in my family have laughed at me and looked at me like i was dirt, they said that i would never be something….well i want to proove them wrong, and show them that anything can happen if you put your mind, heart and soul and take steps to be what you want to be.

Yesterday i just picked up my guitar and started playing.

I can play Dixie Chicks travellin Soldier on chords all the way through by memory and also Staind Outside acoustic by memory.

ALSO Tracey Chapman fast car. Sounding GOOD!

Cant wait to master this instrument.

I’ve played guitar for a few years & have some lovely guitars in my collection. I just don’t study or practice enough – so i want to set time aside to play more – even if this is to learn 1 new song a week.

After not having played for almost a year I practised a couple of nights ago when I couldn’t sleep… it felt good.

At the moment I’m learning to play Books From Boxes by Maximo Park.

It’s an awesome song, can’t wait til I’ve perfected it :)

I can play Love Me Tender pretty good. And the chords for Wild Thing. I told my teacher i wanna start moving on to Slipknot Vermillion Part 2 and Green Day… LOL. Sometimes i get way yo ahead of myself but why not??

i taught myself the basics of guitar.
and since then, that’s all i’ve been playing.
its nice knowing how to play even a little bit of an instrument but i really wish i could learn more chords and stuff.
i might start taking lessons soon.
because im tired of just knowing the basics.

4TH! LESSON!

ive been playing guitar for a long time, about 8 years

and i dont feel my level of ability really warrants that amount of time

im by no means bad, good enough to write songs and play in an amateur band

i just dont have the motivation for it anymore…

its not my favourite instrument, it’s always been a tool for writing songs

i guess i find it easier to think musically on a guitar than anything else (besides my voice)

perhaps i could fall in love with guitar again if i just played it more

why have i been neglecting it?

i sold my rickenbacker a little while ago, maybe that had something to do with it?

i sold it so i could buy a nice vocal mic, i guess my priorities shifted from music playing to music production

it’s a difficult balancing act to spread my time between music production and music ability

sometimes you just feel like your wasting time

nobody values music anymore

you can play for hours, create things and forget about them and have nothing to show for it

people will think i’ve been doing nothing all day

when really i’ve just been creating and throwing things away

being a musician is sometimes very depressing…

I love playing the guitar, I just want to be better! :)
