I think this would be a wonderful form of exercize. I think it would better my life.
Well I took Hula back when I was a teenager (over 10 years ago). Now that I live in Hawaii I would really like to relearn the steps and join a hulau. ( I don’t think I spelled that right).

I’ve been doing Hula on and off for 7 years. Both my daughters ages 15 and 6 are in Advance Hula and have performed in numerous competitions, Luau’s, etc…
I just recently really got back into it last summer. I’ve also been asked to perform in one of the Biggest competitions this summer.
I love doing the hula.. Such a great work out-
Its not only about the coconut bras and the Grass skirts,
There is a story behind every dance. I think it also helps define a woman, it brings out the gracefullness in you.. the way you walk.. etc..
One good thing about doing Hula/Tahitian IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT SIZE YOU ARE.
if you got strong legs, arms that can move, and hips that can shake.. then YOU’RE GOOD TO GO.. It would also help to be coordinated. That’s the one that gets me.. Coordination..
Try it!! you just might… fall in love with it.
Shayleah is reviewing and revising her list...thanks LB for inspiring me! xo
I still intend to do this but am clearing up some goals right now to make room for more important ones. I think I will have a broader goal regarding dance.

I actually found an ad for a hula studio in my immediate area. I took the name and the number, but nothing further just yet. I’m not employed full-time as of yet (ugh. Still.), so I’m not comfortable splurging on “extras” like dance lessons right now. But I have the number, at least.

K decided that she’d rather have a limbo competition rther than hula lessons but I learnt all the moves nevertheless. I read a mini book about learning to hula and it explained that the feet keep the rythym whilst the hands tell the story.
I didn’t get to show of my talents at the party much though – the piccie is actually me (on the left) doing the Cha Cha Slide!

...that I learn to hula before her Hawaiian Luau so that I can teach her and her friends how to hula at her party. Eek – my dancing skills aren’t great at the best of time let alone in a grass skirt in front of 30 pre-teens!!!
Best get practicing!
Been doing it for four years and wouldn’t trade it for the world! I love it so much! I’ve done expositions, been on tv, performances for parties/weddings, and even been to the competitions. I’m an avid hula dancer. I love that tahitian. I love that samoan. I love that tongan. I love those poly boys. I love the atmosphere and the look on the faces of people when they see it for the first time. I love it i lvoe it i love it, i have my own club at school : The pacific Islanders club. The culture is so great. I love it.
