There's a class at the local park & rec... 20 months ago

... that my son has been taking. His instructor mentioned that I can take the adult class as well! I really want to… I’m not sure what’s stopping me. Well actually, I do. It takes me a little time to conquer the fear of trying something new. I will think good thoughts and then I’ll just go ahead and sign up!

I’m 22. Can I still learn this?

I learned some Brazilian Jujitsu in the Police Academy, but that hardly counts. I want to learn the whole discipline. I am going to put this one off for now bc I am working on my MBA, weight training and mountain biking right now. With a career and family, my plate is quite full.

Testing for Green 2 years ago
So I’ve missed a lot of classes, and I’ve been sick for a month. But I am still going to to test for Green sometime before school lets out.
  • I know the 10 throws I will test on; I just have to practice them.
  • I think I know which 5 kicks I’ll test on; I just have to practice them A WHOLE FREAKING LOT.
  • I know and LOVE a lot of locks, so there is prolly 3 I can find.
  • And I’ve already extinguished a candle from 6 inches, so easy-peasy!

I wish I could take summer classes…

So I worked with a bigger guy today, doing wrist and shoulder locks. While I enjoy working with my girl counterpart, it makes me feel more confident when I’ve practiced these moves on people larger than me. Because I faced it a long time ago—standing at not even 4’11”, there are many, many people larger than me.

I missed jujitsu for Calc Test Review Session.

I would have much rather been throwing people onto the ground than calculated Taylor Polynomials…

Less sore; loving the class. Learned a wrist lock, four finger lock, and some throws by locking up shoulders (arm crank, and another). We’re in the same room as the basics class and if I ever feel bad about not being able to lock up my partner’s wrist, I just look to the other side of the room and watch someone collapse as they try a basic throw and their “victim” falls on top of them. I can laugh at them, because I was much worse when I started.
