"I've been a Jeff Corwin fan since I was 12...that's about 11 years. I love and respect his work and all that he's done-he is my idol-it was amazing to meet him!"

How I did it: I flew to Columbia, Missouri where he was scheduled to have a booksigning and speak at a college seminar at Mizzou. My grandparents who live there bought tickets to the seminar 3 weeks in advance which was great because it ended up selling out of course. We got to the booksigning about an hour in advance and the line was already forming :) When it was my turn I shook his hand and told him that it was great to meet him and asked if he could write Happy Herping in my copy of his book and he did (Herping is a term in the reptile world referring to Snake Hunting). I got to take a picture with him. The line was being rushed because he only had an hour to sign and the line had grown quite long so I didn't have time to ask him anything...but he was very nice and the experience was amazing! After the booksigning we went to the seminar and listened to him talk about conservation, wildlife, and his experiences-it was great. I definitely want to do this again!

Lessons & tips: Get your tickets in advance if you're going to an event...he holds a Q and A session after his seminars-if you can think of any wildlife/conservation related question to ask him-do it!

My idol 15 months ago

I absolutely love Jeff Corwin. I’ve been a fan of his work for a very long time. I’ve always loved the outdoors and wildlife…especially reptiles…especially snakes! I got his book for Christmas the year it came out and I’ve read it several times. I love the way it’s put together and it’s beautifully written. He’ll be in Colombia, Missouri next month for book signing and a seminar at Mizzou. I have grandparents there. I’m going! I’m too excited! I hope they’ll let me take my snake hook in for him to sign! Ahhh! And my book of course :)
