Our place is an absolute mess. The living room generally looks somewhat livable, and kitchen can be fairly decent, but our bedroom is complete squalor. I hate it; part of the problem is that my husband is a wee bit of a packrat and I struggle with motivation, so the mess really gets on top of us. Added to this the fact that we lived in a 2-bedroom suite for a year and a half and then moved to our current 1-bedroom place, and you have a disaster.
I can conquer this…a little at a time.

Some Winter cleaning, if you will…
-Sort through box of paper and misc. items. Throw away unnecessary. Put rest in proper places.
-Organize drawer system next to desk.
-Organize drawers under bed.
-Organize closet to make outfit-planning more efficient and less time-consuming

Had the carpets steam-cleaned Friday, including the staircase, which would have been a huge pain to do without professional assistance. Bathrooms and kitchen getting a cleaning on Monday, courtesy of the housekeepers that take care of the shared spaces in the apartment building.
But that’s cleaning. Organization front is still going slowly. Life’s getting busy again, but I’m going to try to get some organizing done tonight. It’s much easier and more pleasant to work when the surroundings are clean and organized and pretty.

Finished everything on that first To Do list except set up printer/monitor/keyboard.
Next to do:
—Set up printer/monitor/keyboard
—Clear out Big Giant Cardboard Box of Stuff
—Clear off bed
—Throw out unusable packaging materials
—Clear out two small trashcans (which are filled with non-trash items at the moment)

Partially because I have too much stuff as usual, but mostly because I am lazy and have been spending my time socializing, eating, and sleeping instead of organizing.
To Do
—Make my bed. As in actually put the sheets and covers on because I have been sleeping on a bare mattress and fleece blanket for the past two nights.
—Hang my clothing that needs to be hung. The clothing that is currently sitting on my computer chair, making it impossible for me to sit there.
—Set up monitor, keyboard, printer
—Organize bathroom stuff (currently spread out in a lovely design all over the sink area)
—Organize desk stuff into handy dandy containers bought for that purpose
That’s pretty much it. Doesn’t sound like much, but again, it’s the last few days of summer and I’m busy with work and I haven’t seen people in so long and I’m tiiired. Whine Whine Whine.

Marked as done

This goal is almost the same as another one, I am going to mark it as done and continue with the other.

I have been working all day on my apartment and I am sad to report that it really doesn’t look all that different from when I started this morning. .. sob sob ..
All of the clutter has been removed from the kitchen counter and either put back where it belongs, thrown out or passed on to mum.
It’s like that whole ‘tip of the iceberg’ thing, what you see is only 10% of the entire thing. .. sigh .. I vow to keep at it though, until my apt. is tidy enough to have people ‘over’.

Yes, such a lofty goal (no, I don’t live in a loft). I see that I am not alone in wanting to do this. I want it organized but I’m not so sure that I want to be the one who does the organizing. I don’t think that anyone else is going to do it, so I guess I do it or it won’t get done. Isn’t that how everything is?

I want to set up a system that works in my new place, so that I prevent messes. Since we just moved things are in an in between state, some stuff is organized but other stuff is a mess. If I spend some time on this and I’m careful I think i could set everything up so it stays organized pretty soon.
