The internet—a great boon for the independent artist, but also a confusing maze of choices.
Ebay, Etsy, Cafe Press…. all wonderfully creative and inspiring options to show and sell one’s work.
Each site, with their pros and cons, is fairly easy to join and access.
But 1.) Joining and accessing, while easy, take time. Where does this selling time come from?
2.) How do you attract customers to your wares?
I have 3 pieces showing with the local art association for the rest of the month. Paint to Paint….Hope to Sell!
I just got invited to show few paintings at a interior design store this weekend…I’m all over it!!!!
Got my website finished, but I am not sure I am entirely happy with it. Think I will give it a re-styling before setting it loose. Now I need to get back into the painting part so I actually have something to put on it.
EvaAvenue survived a deadly viper bite
It’s easy! Surprisingly easy, for me anyway.
I just started small, like hanging in a coffeeshop with a good and wacky reputation. I sold 5 pieces and got two commissions out of it. Then I slowly had other art shows, met people, collaborated with artists. Helped with some gallery shows. Attended other people’s shows, participated in group shows. It’s not that hard to get into the loop if you’re a good artist and put forth a little social effort.
cincygal I'm doing paperwork.
I have an art studio in Cincinnati. I put a nice ad in a local magazine. I can do more to promote my work, I know it. I’m looking for a person who has a restaurant who wants to show my art work. I do modern “expressionistic” small paintings. I also do a lot of realistic work, too. We have art walks in our art complex, but they are only 4 times a year. I need more venues! Onward!
