I’m not an expert, but I’m confident writing a complete application and I understand the purpose of each component. I plan on writing django applications using Google App Engine.
I studied some basic programming over ten years ago (with Pascal, would you believe!), forgot everything, started few years back and built a pretty decent blogging platform with a programming language my colleague created (even weirder!). Now I would just love learn some real programming if only I had the time and stamina.

I bought The Definitive Guide to django (by Holovaty and Kaplan-Moss) and it explains a lot. I just need to separate each part of the django framework and understand each one.
and I’ve been meaning to learn Python since PHP and Perl have taken away any notion I had of clean, beautiful code.
The full Django book is online at last, so that’s my Christmas reading…

I have the basics down, and my appreciation for the Django framework continues to grow. I want to start experimenting with middleware and add my own widgets to forms – especially extending some of the widgets used in the admin interface.
