    Day One 4 years ago

I was really tired when I finished with class today, but I made myself sit down and draw a card and write a page about it. I’m glad that I did, it’s really fun to do. Card #1: Z’Etoile, The Star. I think that’s a good sign for things to come, as well :)

Let's do it! 4 years ago

I read with the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot, but as with a lot of decks, sometimes a card will come up when I’m doing a reading and it totally stumps me. Last night the whole reading stumped me and I had to pull out the book and go over it. So I think that I will start doing this, and it will help me not only learn more about my deck but about the orisha and the loa. I think I will buy a notebook today so that I can keep notes.

    Encouraged... 4 years ago

Encouraged by a recent cheer of this goal, I think I’m going to restart my daily card pullings. I had done it for about four months and my tarot readings got much better!

I’d like to make this a regular practice… and found it soothing when I pulled every day. I’ve lapsed for months and months and months. I suppose I know why, but everything in it’s time, oui?

I’ve been working and reading with the Tarot Lukumi almosst exclusively, and it’s the one deck I ‘feel insitinctively’. I suppose there’s no surprise there either. However, I own other decks and only a few of them I resonate with. I have for the most part stopped working with tarot all together and I think it’s high time I restart.

I am encouraged, because I read for someone a few days ago and got a cheer for it yesterday, so here we go!

wow. even i wasn’t sure i’d stick with this all the way through. but here i am. 78 days and 78 cards later. i turned one of my abandoned lj’s into a place to keep thoughts and notes on individual cards. today i finished with the queen of wands. i know a lot more about tarot than when i first started, and will probably continue to learn so i can understand more. i still find them fascinating and my cards beautiful. although the fact that the minors in my deck don’t have the classical pictures make it a bit difficult to remember. but i’ll keep at it. i’m not sure if i’ll dive right into trying spreads and such. probably want to look at the cards in groups to get a deeper feel for their meaning and energies. i guess we’ll see. :)

i referenced a bunch of different web sites to get different perspectives and interpretations of the cards so i could figure out more for myself.

it’s a tarot thing. fascinating stuff. to me anyway. deals very much with the subconscious and it can be a very rich and full of stories depending how you look at it. anyway. concentrating on one card a day that’s a minimum of 78 days. thus. this goal. umm good luck to me. i think i’m going to shuffle them tonight and then just draw randomly till i’ve gone through them all. doesn’t seem like a terribly hard exercise other than keeping notes and thoughts about it. we’ll see. cassandra has a notabley short attention span.
