i started skating when i was about 11-12… then a skateboarding accident(minivan ran over my board) made me give it up for about a year. But then my friend gave me his skateboard and ive been skating about every day. The sad thing is I live in a town with no good places to skate and there are no skateparks i know about near by.

skateboarding is art in so many ways. for instance when you do a trick you get so stoked about it that you can do it again over and over but most people say how did i do that. when you do a trick it is so cool on how the rotation of the board goes and how your body goes with the board. well one lesson keep trying trust me everybody says that i know but i get angry to but you know why i keep doing what i do is because i never give up on anything and school comes first. it sucks i know for a fact but when i was in school i got f’s but i told myself that its always better to do than to not remember it alright see you guys later. or come see me at my profile. my reel name is Cody

Kickflips 3 years ago

For almost 5 years, I have been trying to land kickflips with no success.

Last weekend I went to the skatepark and ran into a boy that is sponsored by West 49. He gave me the best advice ever for kickflips. I have had dozens of boys try to teach me how to do it, with no luck.

Today, with my new friend’s advice, I landed a kickflip not just once, but several times today. That has lifted a big weight off my shoulders. I AM SO HAPPY!

I did it 3 years ago

Yesterday I competed in my first skateboarding competition, run by a skateshop called X-Village in Toronto. I came in 4th place in the girls division and won some sweeet prizes. At first, after I entered, I did not want to do it because I was scared… Then I saw lots of girls in the competition falling all over the place and not doing so well and that kind of upped my self-esteem, and when I did my 2 runs I only fell once!

Three weeks ago I could only do a minimal amount of things on the skateboard. Ever since going to the skateboard park every day, learning from new friends I’ve made there, and working very hard, I have progressed into a decent skateboarder. I am very proud of myself!

Ofcourse I’m not a “professional” but I have been getting better and better, and will keep practicing, and maybe next summer I will place 3rd or higher in the competition. :)

Progress 3 years ago

I’ve been going to the skatepark for the past few days and my skills have not deteriorated!!! I can still ollie, manual, and I’ve learned how to shove-it too!!! My little friends there are awesome and nice, always givin me free stuff. When I first went there I was scared and nervous, and afraid of geting made fun of..Well that was not the case. All the kids were friendly and willing to show me how to do tricks, and are willing to help me learn the half-pipe!!! Maybe I’ll be in next summer’s skate competition, who knows!

I will do this 3 years ago

When I was 15 I bought my first skateboard in highschool. I broke my arm when I went down my first hill, but I did not want to give up after that. I eventually learned how to skateboard with a stable balance on the board, and then soon started learning how to ollie and kickflip. Unfortunately my friends starting become less and less supportive of the whole skateboarding thing, after “Avril Lavigne” became known as a hokey pop-star instead of the cool girl she used to be. I had an interest in skating before she came out, but I followed my friend’s ideas anyways. I stopped skating and started drinking and partying.

Well fast forward to 4 years later, I’m 19 years old now. I live on my own now in a new city, I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I’m starting my 3rd year of college in September, and I am interested in becoming active again. I used to be a soccer player and was a little interested in joining an indoor league until today I noticed my skateboard laying around. What a waste!

My mission? Go to the local indoor skatepark and start training to become A PROFESSIONAL VERT SKATEBOARDER. I’m going to save up for a helmet, new wheels, and whatever else it takes to get me in gear for this. I want to learn how to grind rails properly. I want to actually try ramps, try half-pipes… I want to do it all!

Going to the store today to check out pads and helmets and proper vert wheels…Weeeeeee
