Went to Yoga class. It was over quickly! I’m used to a one and a half hour class, and this was one hour.
Thinking about signing up for another weekly class, as they’re pretty affordable where I’m taking them. Can’t hurt to get out of the house one more night a week. Also, I enjoy yoga more with other people around. Well, I enjoy it in a different way.
I’ve been making too big a deal out of this goal. At bottom line though, I enjoy yoga, while I’m doing it and after. That’s important.

Did half an hour of yoga today. Would have done more – usually I do at least 45 minutes when I get to it – but had to go out in the evening.
I’ve never been a regular exerciser and I’m not the most fit person, but that’s not the reason I started yoga (about five or six weeks ago now). I started it because I was going through a rather scary time – I was having frequent panic attacks and suffering from nervous exhaustion and just generally feeling like I was in the worst time of my life. I signed up for a class at a community center. Initially I was most interested in learning how to breathe, since breathing is so important to yoga (my teacher noted in the first session that if there’s no emphasis on breathing, then it’s not yoga, it’s just stretching.). By by the second session I knew I was hooked – it felt so good. in place of the day long jitters and mild depression I’d been fighting, was a feeling of calm and just groundedness which was EXACTLY what I needed just then. We’d done some really good deep breathing and I just felt a lot more alive than I had all day.
My classes are once a week and an hour and a half each time. They leave me limp but feeling really, really good – relaxed and very renewed, if often sleepy. And I feel like I’ve really worked out. But the best thing is somewhat hard to describe – it makes me feel like I’m all there, not just a head perched on a body, if that makes sense.
I’m working on increasing the number of times I do yoga during the week, and it hasn’t been hard because there are a number of poses I really enjoy. I love all the poses that stretch the spine, like the Mountain. My favourite is maybe the Child pose. And when you finish a session with the Corpse pose that is EXCELLENT. So relaxing. If you have even a little bit of stress, I highly recommend yoga.
