Get kissed under the mistletoe

i guess not this year

I don’t actually have mistletoe hanging in my house.

I haven’t really embraced the holidays this year. I haven’t found a way to make an orphan life delightful quite yet. (I am keeping embracing the holidays on my list and will figure out how to accomplish this goal, holiday by holiday by holiday in 2009.)

I was thinking a week or so ago, that it would be difficult to accomplish being kissed under the mistletoe iffin I don’t have mistletoe at my house. It would leave it to luck that mistletoe would be near me ~ ever! Let alone iffin someone I wished would kiss me would be there too.

Isn’t it nice to know that kisses don’t wait for mistletoe? Someone came over (not wanting to kiss and tell!) that is on way hard times just now. He has been a virtual friend of mine for a few years. We met in real life this last summer and while meeting in real life sometimes ends a virtual friendship, it didn’t ours. We have kept our virtual friendship and have real life time together once in a very great while.

I had gifts for him and his children. Not to be from me, as I have never met his children, but to be from him, really. He brought me flowers (how long has it been since anyone gave me flowers!) and a gift. I don’t know what it is. It’s under my tree. (Yes, the one that only has 1/3 of its lights on and three ornaments. Why can’t I find Christmas inside myself this year?) I’ll open it on Christmas day.

He looked up at my ceiling and then at a stained glass that is hanging between rooms and said “Is that your mistletoe?” I stumbled over my words a bit shyly “I don’t have mistletoe” and thank goodness he said “I don’t need mistletoe to kiss you” and (yippee!) did!

Next year…..... it’s mistletoe hung up just a few feet inside the front door. And maybe over the couch too!

Do it with a loved one.

I was in the dorms getting ready to move out for winter vacation when a friend came over. She caught me under the mistletoe and gave me a wonderful kiss. We had a few more, but unfortunately that was the extent of our affectionate exchanges. She started going out with another guy from the dorms and then left school at the end of the next semester.

I’ve kissed and been kissed under the mistletoe on multiple occasions since then, but that remains my favorite mistletoe experience.

It’s nice to add a little romance to the holidays

during a camping trip – see this entry. He did it again on a hiking trip about a month later. Someday I’m going to spot the mistletoe first and kiss him!

i have roped paul into helping me complete this goal in return for helping him complete ‘make out with someone in a movie theater.’
