I have 2 semesters left until I have my Psych degree. My only problem is that I’m not sure what field I want to go into for graduate school. _;;
How to have a Ph.D in Psychology
How I did it: Find a university that suits you and makes you feel at home. That's the starting point. Don't be lazy and visit them before you choose! It's not only their curriculum that is important but also their atmosphere can make a big difference.
And after that? Just study everyday, make a schedule for yourself which times you can study and stick to that. Don't forget to have fun along the way: go to party's, organize studygroups or seminars. Try to find a specialty in the field that has your special interest. Interview and ask older students questions about how they finished their study. Remember that you're not alone in doing this: I got a lot of support from my family and friends, so let those people around you help you too! In short: build a network and get support.
But actually, in retrospect, I think it's a good thing if you take your time. Psychology is a great study and you can use your knowledge in almost every job, but take your time to find out what you what to achieve with having this Ph.D: do you want to be a researcher? Do you want to work as a psychologist? Do you want to work with children or adults? In short: don't forget there's a goal after this goal...
I'm sorry but I can't give you a roadmap of how to quickly reach this goal...There's no shortcut here! Goodluck!
Lessons & tips: Building a good network is something I didn't think was very important... but I was wrong! Building a network is even more important than a good grade. Most nice jobs can be found through friends...so go out a lot, organize a seminar, ask advice from your professor and be open to a new contact!
Resources: For me working besides my study was necessary, it made it more difficult, so if you don't have to you're lucky. But...if you have to work too, try to find a job that has a connection with your study.

People have been cheering this, so I’ll add an entry.
It won’t be long before I have a B.A. with a major in Psychology. I love my major so much, I don’t know exactly how to narrow it down for grad school. I was going to go into Clinical, but I decided a few months ago that I’d rather go into a Counseling program if I’m going to aim for having a private practice. Of course, I don’t know if having a private practice is what I want, or if I’d rather enter a more research-oriented program. I have a neuroscience concentration and I could continue in that direction.
For now, I’m taking some time “off” from academia to get hands-on experience. I also am taking this time to prioritize health and save some money. I’d like to spend some time in Europe before I’m 26 (so I can count as a student). Once I’ve been out of the ivory tower for a little while, I’ll decide how to proceed.
