move to nashville 8 months ago

Hello! My boyfriend and I have lived in a little town in Maryland our whole lives and we are ready to start over in Nashville! I have only visited Clarksville where my brother lives (which is a little too far from downtown for me) and of course we have been downtown. From what i’ve seen I absolutely love Nashville but we are not sure where to live. If at all possible I would like to live no further then 15 from downtown for i would like to get into bartending. Can anyone help me with what counties to research?? Since we don’t know too much about the area, we plan on renting for awhile and our budget is around $500… please help me!!!

I'm hoping to move to Nashville....I think 8 months ago

I have an interview there in about 3 weeks with the public school district. I’ve tried to do alotta research on the city on things like what to do, where to live, etc. I fell for the way Nashville looked several years ago driving past it on my way to Jackson, MS. My husband and I recently decided to split and I then decided I needed a new view…so, I looked for jobs in Nashville. I’m stoked about my interview, but it’s a very competitive one…I’m not so stoked about my divorce. Anyway, I was glad to see this site and see that some people had posted things that only someone living there would know, like traffic. I’m worried about finding the right neighborhood and I’m also worried about the safety of the public schools. I used to live in Columbus, Ohio and taught in the city district, which could be really rough depending on what part of town you were in. Columbus, by population, is twice as big as Nashville, so I’m hoping their schools may be a little more mellow. If anyone has any insight or suggestions, please share! Thanks!

I finally moved to Tennessee in May. I’m not technically in Nashville, but I’m only 30 minutes away. I absolutely LOVE it down here! :-)

it must have been over a year ago that i put this here.
but here i am, in music city, usa.
I packed up my car with $153 and drove to nashville.

Dreaming 2 years ago

I have wanted to move to Nashville since I was little. I am more ready than ever! I’m scared to move by myself though & finding a good friend to move with me is easier said than done. I’m going to school for marketing and I hope & pray that I can get on with the music industry somehow. I would love to be a talent scout or an A&R rep!

So we were in Nashville last week for five days. We bought an investment condo out there…My sister in law Christine came with us and loves it there…she wants to move too! We hung out with all of my old friends from when I lived there 7 years ago. We will make another trip out there next year and then move in March of 2009. Spring Hill probably. It will come sooner than we think.

After discussion, dwelling, thinking and praying we have determined that Nashville is our next move. Most likely in March or April of 2009. I’m am soooo stoked. More later.

I wanted to move to Nashville for a boy…. which was a very stupid thing because up until then, I had no desire to go to Nashville whatsoever. Maybe visiting would be nice, but things have changed. That boy came to me. I’m not sure where I’d like to live when I eventually decide to move, but Nashville is not the place!

Driving in Nashville 3 years ago

I’m learning about traffic in Nashville. Traffic sucks I think… I’m starting to find. There seems to be 3 rings around the nashville area… all three lead you around the city in a cirlce, making it tough to get lost actually. So that has helped. We will be living in a sub-burb of Nashville called Mt. Juliet. It’s a great little place, population of less than 40,000. The schools are great for the girls (I have two), and the area is very friendly.
The weather so far – is best described by Bon Jovi and Hot, Sweet, and stcky. It’s a little humid to say the least, although it is bearable. It’s been a little rainy this week, but not too bad either. The weather is a lot different than California. We get a lot of lightning storms here in the summer I am hearing. We also have lightning bugs! Never had those before. The girls are having fun with them already.

OK – more later. If you want info on Nashville – let me know and I’ll help as much as possible!

Our trip so far... 3 years ago

OK – So we packed all our crap up, then realized that the 17’ truck I rented wasn’t big enough for all our valueable crap. So half of our crap didn’t make it on the truck! I sold some things off to friends, gave some stuff to others. But we got the majority of the things we wanted, into the truck.
We left at 1:05 on Wednesday afternnon, heading for Kingman, Arizona. Rand McNaly.com said it was a 9 hour drive – what a crock that is. It turned out to be about a 12 hour drive. We finally got there, butt ass tired. The kids did pretty well though, all things considered.
We left Arizona, headed towards New Mexico around 11:00am. We got into middle Arizona and ound out that this is Monsson season. That kinda sucked. I haven’t seen rain like that…. ever. We stopped in a little place, not even a city, called Park. Park community I was told. We stopped at the local grocery store\video rental\post office\gas station\hard ware store. It was cute.
We finally got to Alburquerque, N.M. around 1:45am. Another long day! We stayed at a La Quinta, very nice place. The girls got to go swimming in the pool before we went to breakfast and headed out of town, towards Oklahoma City.
I realized that there are a lot of cows in Texas. I am not a huge fan of cattle waste I determined. It wasn’t so bad though. We got into Oklahoma city around 10:00. We found that the Travelodge we booked, sucked. It was a small, crack whole motel. Never, ever stay there, unless you like green pools and hookers. Other than that – its a nice place. We did go to Frontier City for the day. It was a fun little amuzement park, set in a country theme.
We left Oklahoma around 9:00am headed for Little Rock, Arkansas. We got there around 7:00, not too bad considering we stopped a couple times. We lost our reservation listing for Little rock, but found a decent hotel that allowed dogs.. and they were close to a police station and Holiday inn with a great bar. So it wasn’t too bad. TZhey had a nice pool too for the kids.
We left Little Rock – finally headed for Nashville. We got into Nashville pretty early. Checked into our hotel around 5:00 and then set out to do a walk through of our new home.

The trip was pretty amazing. I suggest anyone who has the opportunity, go by car cross country. We saw every imagineable animal on the road, usually not in a living condition, but I did see a turtle crossing the street in Texas, I swerved so he went between the tires... not sure if he made it accross. I wanted to stop and pick him\her up, but failed to get a space fast enough to pull over. I learned that Flgstaff Arizona is a nice foresty area. New Mexico is beautiful in the mornings. Arizon is a dry heat, but it's still damn hot! Crossing into Tennessee on I-40 is really pretty too. It was a great trip! I highl recommend it to anyone! I have some pictures - but no way to get them online yet.
