Sorry, but my dad actually works at a place where you borrow a laptop. I don’t have any advice. don’t say this this was helpful and don’t cheer it. BUT i get to use it all the time!

How I did it: I saved up and did it. Once I decided it was a must have, I just took some of the money that I would have spent on nonessential stuff and put it toward my new laptop. Then I looked for the least expensive one that would meet my needs. With the sales that go on periodically it's really easy to find a nice laptop without spending a fortune. Lessons & tips: Here's the thing I found. You think, "Oh, I have a laptop, I can work anywhere I have a connection. This will be great." Then you realize, "Oh. I have a laptop. I can work anywhere I have a connection. There's nowhere to hide." Still, doing work in a coffee shop/in bed/ on the couch > doing work in a cubicle, amirite? :) |

So I know it’s material but for the right reason. There’s alot I want to accomplish. A laptop in this day is the best way to hold all my brain at a glance.
I want to find myself. A personal journal.
I want Europe. Place to load pictures and video.
I want to meet quality people. Communication.
It seemed selfish when I first wrote it. But I find I can live with it. It’s to organize my mind and my life. I find it a tool and not a toy.
So. I’ll keep you posted. Soon with it.

I’ve been wanting a laptop so I’m not always stuck in the office.
I am writing a book and would like to be out on the porch, or at the zoo, or anywhere! really. It’s the freedom that I’m looking forward to.
Another reason I’m so glad to be portable now is that the Dearest likes to watch history and nature shows on TV and he always wants me to stop whatever I’m doing and go look something up in the middle of a show. I may be in the office looking up the habitat of the Springbok and miss the pretty flamingoes on the show (that’s a crummy example, but you get the idea). Now I don’t have to run to the back of the house every time he comes up with a question.
Plus ~ it’s just fun to have and now I can take it with me wherever I go.

longtime desktop user, made the switch due to buisness travel and not wanting a big thing dominating my desk. love the portability, storage, memory. got a great deal on a gateway at Best Buy. decide before you go to buy one how much protection (service plans) you’ll need.

After many months of drooling over a notebook computer (and at the thought of dropping windows for an apple,) I finally reached my goal of getting a laptop, with the purchase of my Apple iBook last January!!
Now the only negative is that Apple had to go and discontinue the iBook about a month or so after I got my iBook with the damn MacBook!! I do think it’s a cool computer, but I dont’t get why they had to go and put “Mac” in the name of EVERY SINGLE computer they sell. It get’s pretty annoying “I have MAC OS X on my MACBook or iMAC or MACPro, etc.”
Well, anyway- the laptop is the way to go!!

I’ve wanted a laptop for a long time, finally decided to take the plunge and do it! It’s more powerful than any desktop I’ve ever had, and portable too! I now spend more time at coffee shops, and in public around people.

I got Lenny in May of ‘06, he’s an Acer TravelMate I got from TigerDirect.com. He’s soooooo much better than the dinosaur I used to have!

I bought my HP last night and picked it up this morning. So far she’s working perfectly for me, but hey- what computer doesn’t when you’ve only had her for a few hours.
Either way- I needed one for school and I’m leaving in 9 days. I guess I sort of had to get it sooner than later <3
