JakeB is not writing. Is doing Xmas things instead
It’s all confirmed for Boxing Day now. The family will descend. 12 people and 2 dogs. I’m not sure where we will put them, especially as the tree will knock out one of our seating corners.
Anyhow, the main thing is to get the upstairs rooms spick and span. At the moment, we have no curtains and 1 yr-old bird shit on the window of one room (I was hoping that the rain would wash it off), and granny curtains in the other. I’m not bothered, but one of my local relatives is well-known for their tittle-tattle (sorry, but it’s true). Luckily, the downstairs is perfectly presentable.
So, we have 2 weeks to:
Order and install blinds for two windows
Paint one wall
Buy swanky throws and cushions
Hide the crap
Buy and decorate the tree
Adorn the table with festive accoutrements
I ws hoping this Xmas would be reasonably relaxed. Yes, well…

Our house is too eclectic to go for a colour scheme throughout. We have brown, turquoise, white + splash of red downstairs.
Thinking pale blue (F&B Pavilion Blue), taupe and white for one bedroom, and orange, brown, white for another (maybe splash turquoise). Not sure about the final room – it’s very small. Perhaps a bold Orla Kiely duvet with white walls and strong prints. Fun.
A wants to hang our old paintings/prints, but the frames and images suit Edwardian/Victorian. I’m favouring big blocks of colour. Simple stuff.

Our house is fab downstairs, but it still needs work. Keeping this goal to focus on the outstanding areas:
Guttering, sofits and fascia
Bedrooms (new bedsteads, linen, blinds, lampshades)
Cushions for sofa
Plant pot – hall
New house number
Garden
Wishlist
Posh Shed
New driveway
Workshop at back of garage
