bergysgirl wondering what to cross off next on my list!
I’m working my arse off… every day is tough, but I’m getting there! I’m hoping to join the army early in 2010!!!
I’m setting big goals for myself!
How I did it: I had tried everything before: hydroxycut, low carb/no carb diets, exercise, you name it!
I was in amazing shape when I was in the army. I am 5'10'' and should be around 175 pounds. Last December I had weighed myself in at 227.5! I couldn't believe my eyes... I never felt that fat!
I abandoned all the methods I had tried before and vowed to lose weight the way no one talks about anymore (eating healthy and exercising!)
I start every morning with a bowl of oatmeal topped with cinnamon and a banana, that keeps my blood sugar levels from spiking, thus allowing me to easily eat healthy for the rest of the day! Also I started exercising, going for walks at first but now I am running everyday and down to 180 pounds!
Lessons & tips: look at the big picture
weigh yourself every morning and night, it keeps you accountable.
don't get upset over a little weight gain, a lot of it is water weight.
Resources: a scale, oatmeal, a mirror!

I put on most of my weight the first time after quitting smoking. I lost about 30 lbs by exercising pretty hard and doing the South Beach Diet. The weight started coming back after I started eating grains again because I thought it was unhealthy not to and about the same time, I got plantar fasciitis in my feet and had to stop exercising.
I managed to stay the same for about 2 years by walking a lot and eating right. Then, in Sept. of 2008 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and the treatments left me unabale to do much exercise for several months and I was also unable to eat complex carbs or vegetables while on chemo. It was too easy to turn to comfort foods. I’m now at the highest I’ve ever been.
I’m feeling good and able to crank up the exercise now. I already walk nearly every day, but that’s not enough. I’m going to add working out to videos and on the treadmill with an incline to my routine. And I’m going to say no to unhealthy temptations, eat healthy, non-processed foods, and reduce grains.
My plan: lose 53 pounds.

I’m working hard at this one right now as I am hoping to join the army this fall. I need to lose 100 pounds but I will be happy if I lose 50 pounds by fall. Estatic actually!
You can read all about it at www.my-basic-training.com
Wish me luck!
I don’t care so much about the aesthetics; my wife loves me for who and how I am.
But I want to stick around for my kids and, hopefully someday, my grandkids.
I don’t want to spend my life hating my body. I don’t want to be a stick, but I want to be the correct weight that fits my height and build.
I want to get to a healthy weight by the time I graduate from college. The highest non-overweight weight for my height is 147, so I want to be, say, 145.
I’m writing this on 1 July 2008, at 225.6 lbs.
I need to be 145 by 10 May 2010, with a loss of 80.6 lbs.
I have 22 months in which to do this, or an average of -3.6 lbs per month, or -0.9 per week.
