2008 = 6 gigs and 1 festival (saw over 30 bands at Reading Festival)
2009 = 4 gigs and 1 festival (saw over 30 bands at Reading Festival)
2010 = 4 gigs (and 3 missed due to illness) and 1 festival (saw over 30 bands at Reading Festival)
OK so my gig going days are not so frequent any more.
I guess a combination of getting older, not living in London anymore and working unpredictable hours (so I’m less likely to buy a weekday ticket in case I end up working and missing it).
For 2011 it’s looking a bit better already – 1 gig attended so far and tickets booked for My Chemical Romance next month and Foo Fighters and Reading festival in the summer. 2 years ago

2006 – 19 gigs
2005 – 22 gigs
2004 – 24 gigs and 16 I worked at = 40 gigs
2003 – 20 gigs and 23 I worked at = 43 gigs
2002 – 13 (a very bad year)
1986 – 2 gigs (the earliest real gigs)
This is only 136 in the last 5 years but I’ve been working and studying and saving up to buy a flat in London over this period of time so it makes sense (both spare cash and time were in short supply).
This doesn’t include festivals (23 bands seen at Reading 2006, 28 at Reading 2005, and plenty of other little/medium festivals).
My busiest gig years were 1992 – 1995 and I hope I have enough diaries remaining to do this properly. 6 years ago

I think one of them I saw in the region of 180 times.

This may be difficult but I hope surviving diaries will help me.
I know there’ve been weeks where I’ve been to 10 separate gigs (not seen 10 bands as you can get 3-4 bands on a bill). I think in one year at uni I saw well over 300 gigs (poss even nearly 400).
I used to see some bands first on and other headliners and there was a club in London that had a band on a 12.30am. One of those nights I went to 3 separate venues and saw the show at each. I think that only happened once or twice.
I quite often had guest lists and had a permanent pass for the club with bands on after midnight. Didn’t cost the earth especially if you collected flyers after gigs for upcoming gigs. 6 years ago
