It seems most of the money goes on little things so I’m working out a budget where I get out a set amount on Monday and another set amount for the weekend and will not go back to the ATM to get any more.
How to save some money
How I did it: So im still in secondary school so this is probably different to everyone elses but here goes...
My parents set up a bank account for me when i was born. That means that all the money i was given when i was little went into this account. Then i started to get pocket money- it use to be £3 from my dad and £2 from my grandma each week- £5 per week. Now its £3 from each of them each week so i get £6 a week! I put it into a money box and every so often i pay this money into the bank (if i havent spent it!) Right now i dont have much in my money box cos i have been doing a LOT of spending recently! hehehe! Also big amounts of money that i recieve for birthdays christmas etc. are put into my account.
I put 10 years because that was the time it took me to get a decent amount of money. I now have several thousand which i am quite proud about. I use to wonder why my parents made me pay my money into the bank and i use to find it really annoying but now i understand that this money will definitely come in handy in a few years time and that if i ever need to then i can always take the money out. It is definitely worth doing this!
Lessons & tips:
- Set up an account as early in your life as you can
- Remember that the money will definitely be useful one day
Resources:
- The bank-hehe!!!

I might be able to buy my plane ticket next week. Then if everything goes according to my plans and calculations, I should be able to save the equivalent of 1000 to 1200 euros in the next two months.
But, I have to be careful, obviously. It’s easier to spend money when the number in your bank account is getting higher and higher.

I’m still in school, without a job (haha,) so i guess I’m different from most of the entries, but I’ve started early just to be safe (I’m quite aware of how much my mother saves…unfortunately.) I’m not sure what I’m saving for, but I’ll just call it the future

To make sure I make it to the end, and have all the money I want for my trip to Finland, I gave myself a goal that I won’t add to my list because it can fit under this goal.
I won’t spend more than $100 every week, without counting the bills (phone, insurance, car loan). Starting from now.
I wanted to buy new wheels for my car so badly! But it’s gonna wait for next year. And when I decide to not buy something for my car, you know I’m determined.

It is funny how I started on this savings program, but sometimes I believe God put things in front of you, and you run with it; Anyway, there was a book I ran across called “Christmas Jars” by Jeffrey F.Wright; I finished his other book, The Wednesday Letters” was pretty impressed and got this book. Although the book is small, no more than 150-200 pages at best, it taught me plenty; Basically, you get a jar, save throughout the year, then give the jar to another. I started THREE; one to give, the other two to keep. one is for the kindle I want. I pray it works. I feel like I’m disciplining myself to things.

Today I got the number, how much I’ll be getting.

My trip to Finland is paid.
And I don’t need to tell you that I had a huge smile for my face for all the evening!

I need to save money for my big summer project, for my appartment furniture, and also for my trip to Finland next Fall. My trip to New York City wasn’t planned and it has affected my budget a lot! Hotel rooms, gas, activities… and even the cellphone (I received my bill today, ugh!!!).
Now I must be cautious and stop spoiling myself. Spend only the minimum.

I just finished reading Richard Paul Evans, “The Five Lessons A Millionaire Taught me for Women” a little over a month or so ago, and one of the things that he spoke on was saving coins. silver coins. it helped to accumulate a fortune and such. On my way to another place, there is a coin shop and I took the time to go there today and bought one shiny silver dollar. It cost over $23 with tax, but worth the weight. So now I am going to save at least two a month. I felt real proud of myself. I highly recommend Mr Evans books. The Five Lessons as well as the one geared for women and start saving.

i have a terrible habit of spending my money as soon as it appears in my account! Ive opened a savings account and am saving about £100 a month after bills, etc. its difficult because im a spendaholic but ive really cut back and im proud of myself so far.
I am moving back into the parental house after 6 months of living with my boyfriend. I am going to start saving a percentage of my wage each month in the hope that one day I will be able to buy a house. Doing this will help with 3 of my goals – buy a home, save some money and get a dog!
