Odd how the busier you become, the more you find to do.

looks like I’m going to have to reorganize some categories, which will take a while.

Last year I got accepted as an editor, then made a bunch of edits which got changed by an editor above me because I hadn’t fully read the editing guidelines. I’m commiting to spend half an hour a week on this, every week.
I’m back editing on a more regular basis – trying to do a bit more to start each day and end each night. Every little bit helps.
If you like exploring new sites on the net, why not drop by and volunteer to join the crew?
Now that minor league hockey is under control, I’ve been working on some other categories—added a bunch of new sites and cleaned up some unreviewed in arena football and doing some work in other sections in hockey and regional.
Not on my house, but I’ve been tackling some neglected categories, particularly in the minor (pro) hockey area. Other than the players category, I have it mostly under control—cleaned up the unreviewed and the errors, and I found and added some new sites. Updated some of the teams, too. Still some more moving around to do, but the section looks much better now than it did a few days ago.
I got burned out and dropped out. Since then I have been frustrated when I try to submit new sites or updates. I was reinstated as an editor a couple of years ago, but I couldn’t get back into by account. I applied again this week, was reinstated, had some trouble getting in, but finally made it! My status as an editor changed while I was gone (which is fine). Some things have changed, and I am trying to catch up while jumping back in.
I encourage anyone who is interested find a category at dmoz.org and apply to be an editor, too.
I’ve been editing at the Open Directory Project for a while. It is volunteer work, but can also feel a bit like a hobby.
If you don’t know about http://Dmoz.org, then imagine a web search where you can find information within a few seconds, and the information was something you were looking for, rather than a hundred pages of nothing.
It is a project to list the best sites on the Internet for every subject. Where humans, rather than computers, are in control.
The DMOZ project is the world’s largest human-edited database of websites on the entire Internet. It features thousands of editors to upkeep the massive site listing.
To join as an editor,
1: find a category that you would like to maintain.
2: Follow the “Become an Editor” link at the top of the category page.
