TheCatsMotherFlippin' heck!

2 pairs of boots taken in to be re-healed at £9.95 each. £9.95! Nine pounds and ninety-five pence! Just goes to show how long it’s been since I took anything to be repaired – last time I had any re-healing done it cost less than a fiver :o

neonheartsI have enough...I am enough.

This one is really important to me and one I want to do for the next 12 months. That is my challenge to myself:

- Make do with what I have for 12 straight months
- No buying new clothes
- No buying new shoes
- Only exception is underwear/bras etc
- If I desperately want a new item of clothing, I can only buy it from an op shop/secondhand store

My wardrobe is literally overflowing with new clothes, most I have never worn. I have had a spending habit, thinking that a new item of clothing would make me happy…but it never does. The money I save on buying new clothes could be put into better use like paying off my credit card, saving up for my trip to Japan and just general savings for the future.

This starts now. No excuses. 16 months ago

TheCatsMotherOh no, more work!

To help with all my money-saving I’m going to do all those silly little jobs that have needed to be done for ages which will definitely provide less need to buy more clothing & footwear.
I have to stop putting it off and start taking all those pairs of boots to be repaired because that will be a tiny fraction of the cost of new ones. Honestly some of my boots were only a few weeks old when the heels wore down (I walk EVERYWHERE so I’m kind of tough on footwear) so it’ll be like having new boots. I found 4 pairs of newish boots like this just this morning without really trying. I can’t afford to get them all repaired at once but I can commit to getting at least one pair repaired each pay day.

Then there are the clothes. Some of them just need new zips or buttons sewing on – there’s quite a pile now. You’d never guess that I used to be a seamstress would you?! There are also 2 brand new coats that are just waiting for a change of buttons as I didn’t like the originals. Why do I put off little jobs like this until they mount up? It will be like having a whole new season’s worth of clothes if I can just get my finger out. 18 months ago
