it was my birthday week, and we had regular rehearsals at the Faculty Center. In comes a man, who calls out to Sir Edru. Apparently he was his former student, now a very accomplished technical singer, a tenor that can even do opera.

Much like the performers that they are, Sir Edru wanted him to show off his vocal chords. “Oh si Sab sir birthday niya!”

grabbed a chair, placed it in the middle and made me sit on it, while the tenor gamely sang an operatic song to me. He almost blew me away (literally. haha)

It was nice, quite flattering, slightly embarassing, but ultimately quite sweet. quite unexpected too! 1 week ago
