I bought a bed this week. I’ve just been using a bed frame. I got the bed at IKEA and I love it! Now I’m thinking about painting, putting up some little shelves, and maybe getting a chair for reading. But it’s going to have to wait until later this summer, since I have to save some money first!

How I did it: I didn't have the energy to move all of my furniture and paint my room (which is white) so instead, I made a bunch of fun pieces like collages, flags, and (my favorite) cutout's from People's hottest guys magazine. I got a cute colorful rug, and a new duvet cover. I already had these adorable curtains, so I kept those. Added a bedside table with juicy couture ads on it, and made a framed magnetic board to post things on. It's a fun place … Read how I did it…

My husband and I bought two matching bedside lamps that really go well in our room. They have black frames with an off-white shade. We also hung a painting my husband’s mother made in college which I LOVE. It’s mostly dark brown, gold and black with a black from and very elegant. My new black secretary desk works well too. Now we just need to find some new bedding because this blue stuff has got to go!
i want a really nice cosy pink and girly bedroom and it’s blue and bare and cold and nothing matches, i actually think it would give me a couple of good mood points if I woke up each morning in a beautiful bedroom…mood board here i come!

Since my last entry about this goal, and I haven’t done much about it.
I put up the lampshade, which looks awesome, and I’m almost done with the headboard, just a few more sequins to go!
Other than that, my room was still the same dump it was 4 weeks ago – until today! I have filled not one, but TWO bin bags full of rubbish and junk I don’t need, and have done some laundry.
I need to sort through all my clothes and put them into categories of: keep for best, keep for yard, take to charity shop, put on ebay, and customise/fix/use-as-material-for-other-projects :)
I am such a hoarder. . .
Well, better get back to it! x

This has been an ongoing project for about 4 years. I keep painting, changing my mind, and re-painting. I settled on a pale lilac some time ago, and I’m sticking with that. I’m keeping my dark red curtains, and dark red bed covers. I am however getting rid of all my cheap canvas covered furniture and replacing with gorgeous if slightly battered hardwood antique armoire and drawers – which I am going to paint purple inside and line the drawers with some awesome paper (after treating all items for possible woodworm…) I also need to finish painting the floor – as it is still 2 different colours because I changed my mind half way through. I got a new chandelier lampshade, which looks a heck of a lot better than the paper chinese lantern I had, and I’m making a headboard for my bed from some scrap wood, material, and sequins – because I’m too cheap to buy a gorgeous Parisian style carved one.
All this and I still haven’t properly tidied up. Clothes everywhere.
I just want a nice room, a nice, pretty, classy bedroom. I just can’t live in the mess anymore!
My wife has an antique ironing board that she bought at a flea market. It looks good in our bedroom but it was a light-colored wood while the rest of the furniture is dark. So I stained it.

Right now our bedroom is a nondescript blank room with sheets tacked up as curtains and clothes always ankle deep on the floor. It should be a cozy love nest. The first thing we need a good warm quilt for this cold spell. After moving from LA we are not at all prepared. Curtains too. With the stop light right outside the window, the blinds just aren’t enough. Another bedside table. A nice rug to keep our toes warm when we step out of bed. A bigger hamper. Some lamps. An actual bed frame would be nice, but that might have to wait. Some art would be nice. I miss having some eye candy to ponder.
Okay, aqua sounds weird when I type it, but the main will be grays/silvers, and purples and then a few accents to match the cushy chair I have in the corner that was my grandma’s (thus, the aqua). Then a felted vase and maybe a felted bowl. Lots of pillows, I seem to see some everywhere that will work with my vision. Just have to start by finding the paint. Seems like the easiest part to obtain without spending too much before I go to France for New Years! ;o)
Thinking about trying to find a good curtain to match it all, to cover the window at the head of my bed. Both for insulation and because I hate the look of levelor blinds.
