ever since i saw that movie i’ve always thought that fly fishing was so cool! it truly looks like an artform. i’d be so happy to have that skill someday!

I think a large part of rounding out my fishing abilities will be learning how to fly fish. By rounding out I mean by having it as another tool to use when appropriate.

This is something I have wanted to do for so long! I signed up for a class 2 years ago then broke my ankle, then last summer I got Annie (my puppy). So, this year I decided to take the class no excuses. I just got done with my last class!! I learned to tie knots, about different flies, and just practiced casting for 3 hours. I can’t wait to actually try fishing fishing. We’ll see how it goes. I’m proud of myself for going outside my comfort zone to do something VERY un-me like flyfishing!

My father has been starting to teach me how to fly fish. Its really fun, we go out in our front yard and practice casts into the lawn. I feel kind of silly just fishing for grass, but its a good bonding experience for us. My dad really likes it too becasuse it makes him feel like I’m still his little girl and he still has things he can teach me eventhough I’m in my 20s. Hopefully my dad will continue to teach me new things for the rest of my life.

Actually, I don’t understand the fly-fishing reel… there’s no handle on it, correct? So how do you reel in the line when you have a fish hooked?
Sorry I’m coming from a spin-fishing perspective.
I still want to try fly fishing someday soon though. Especially after watching the movie “A River Runs Through it.” Made it look cool.
