I’m with HSBC at the momment and GOD the charges! Im a full time student with a part time job and they expect miricales. I need a more student friendly// loving bank!!!! [is there such a thing?] Any suggestions welcome :)
and I’ve never looked back. PNC tacked on all sorts of utterly ridiculous fees. Every bit of everything had surcharges galore. It was costing me money to have my accounts with them. After almost six years with PNC, I made the changeover to Commerce.
I like that they’re open later and on weekends. I like that they’re pretty much nationwide because who wants to pay ATM fees if they don’t have to? I love the “Penny Arcade” that counts your coins like a CoinStar machine but which doesn’t take a percentage. I love the ease of their 1-800-YES-2000 automated telephone banking system and the super-helpful, friendly people they have for when you need to talk to a real person. I love that it’s so easy to transfer funds back and forth between my checking and savings account using just my ATM/debit card.
The only thing I don’t love is that there is a “cycle service fee” of $15 if your account goes below $100 even once during your billing cycle. However, ever since I learned about that one the hard way, I’ve just made sure to keep a cushion in there so it hasn’t been an issue since. So it really doesn’t cost me money to save and store money anymore. Works for me!
Ok so I FINALLY got around to doing this! It’s been a goal of mine since the beginning of the year, and I’m so glad I did it. The switch was an easy one, and I felt so much more relaxed setting up with my new bank. I have all the phone, internet and text banking set up, so I’m good to go! And on top of that, I have a pretty funky-lookin card. :)
I called my bank this morning and looks like it will be no problem to just have checking Iam almost good to go!
1. talk to my bank
a. find out if I can have a checking account alone
b. Is there a minimum amount on my checking
2. fill out application for emigrant savings
a documentation:
drivers liscense, check
I hate Wespac Trust. No bank statements in over 9 years = crappy bank who doesn’t give a shit about its customers. I’m going to open up an account with Kiwibank one of these days.
