I had a follow up appointment, two years after my surgery, on July 3 2009. The decision: I can have enhancement surgery done, via PRK.
The doctor would like me to wait at least 3 months, if not 6 to 12, to determine that my vision has stabilized. Once that’s been established, I would come in for two seperate sessions, one for each eye. He said that because the recovery period is longer with PRK, it’s easier to “carry on with every day business” by having only one eye done at a time.
The biggest positive from the appointment though was the fact that he waived the enhancement surgery fees—he said because my vision had been so poor beforehand and that he was committed to giving me 20/20 vision, that I would not have to pay for any further enhancements. So yay! That’s a relief. I don’t know when or if I’ll choose to get it done, but it’s nice to know that it IS an option.
