listen to more jazz

i got Miles Davis ‘Bitches Brew’ on original vinyl today! i don’t have the CD but i’ve been wanting to hear this album for some time.
apparently alot of hardcore jazz fans hate this record, but i love it!
i listen to alot of Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Sonic Youth etc. so i instantly “got” it!

Beautiful piano jazz with Hampton Hawes on piano, Monk Montgomery on bass, and Steve Ellington on drums.

Last night when we were at the health club, a selection of jazz was playing in the pool area. The tunes included the recognizable and popular: “Take Five”, “Kind of Blue”, and “Green Dolphin Street”.

I listened to most of this while cooking in the kitchen this morning. Forgot how cool it is.

Last week I had my Marian McPartland on 52nd Street CD playing in the kitchen.

A week or so before that, I was listening to some Dinah Washington.

Lovely.

Right now I’m really digging Herbie Hancock, and the funky rhythms he has going on. I get the strong feeling that a whole lot of Herbie’s music will be playing around my house for a while.
