Josh ...and life just rolls on like a river.

I love... 1 month ago

...Jazz. I’ve always thought it was fun and interesting, but until about two or three months ago, I hadn’t ever really listened to it on my own. The local public radio station (music, not NPR) plays nothing but jazz for about an eight hour block on Sundays. I started listening to that when in the car or just relaxing at the house (it’s cool how itunes loads it up and plays it, too). Then I started wanting to listen to it more than just on Sundays… so I did a Google search for a jazz radio station, and I found WBGO, an awesome all jazz station in New York, NY. I’ve been listening to it pretty frequently online. I don’t really know who any of the current big jazz names are or really much about the technical aspects of jazz, but I want to learn about that, as well…

Jazz, it’s fun.

...I’m listening to some jazz (online at WBGO, an all jazz radio station out of New York, NY) and getting ready to pack some books up. I love jazz. :)

Learning 3 months ago

I’ve loved jazz since I first heard it but haven’t taken the time to find out about artists and build a collection of what I like listening to. So now I’m going to start listening and learning :)

Listened to a track by Phinaeus Newborn this week and it lifted me right up while calming me at the same time. Gonna look for more of his’ to listen to.

apparently alot of hardcore jazz fans hate this record, but i love it!
i listen to alot of Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Sonic Youth etc. so i instantly “got” it!

Recorded at Contemporary Records’ studio in LA, February 17, 1964.

Our Health Club 8 months ago

Last night when we were at the health club, a selection of jazz was playing in the pool area. The tunes included the recognizable and popular: “Take Five”, “Kind of Blue”, and “Green Dolphin Street”.
